That’s A Wrap #34

That's a Wrap
By: David Stephens of WrestleView.com

Ousta! Welcome back to the only WrestleView column covering topics both nowhere yet everywhere at once. If you are new to the column you are probably going to hate us for the first couple weeks, but then you are going to hit a point where you say ?oh wait a minute, I think he gets it?. Don?t worry, that’s exactly how it is designed to be. This column is all about gut reactions and traveling thoughts. As the great Andy Kaufman once said: ?I just want real reactions. I want people to laugh from the gut, be sad from the gut, or get angry from the gut?.

Welcome to a very special holiday edition of That’s a Wrap. We here at the Institute of Wrapping Things UpTM would like to wish all of our American readers the Happiest of Thanksgivings. Enjoy the break and time with family and friends. Since this is a special edition I?ll be parting from the regular format to present my first ever ?Things I?m thankful for in Pro-Wrestling?.

A is for? AJ Styles, the confident and phenomenal star who graces the ring with finesse that bridges on impossible. His picture perfect form and mind boggling style helped cement TNA’s place in history.

B is for? the Beautiful People! Because everyone needs something pleasant to look at

C is for? CZW, the company that spurred my love for ultra violence. If I hadn?t paid to attend Tournament of Death 7 I surely would not have sat through the entire show and it is doubtful that I would have developed the sick love and bloodlust that I have acquired.

D is for? duct tape, cause it solves all kinds of problems

E is for? ECW! The best show around (plus I recap it!)

F is for? there is no ?F? because the WWE taught me to get the ?F? out!

G is for? Gabe Sapolksy, the man responsible for some of the greatest Indy scene matches the world has ever known. His current work both with Dragonforce USA and EVOLVE are ushering in an exciting time for east coast wrestling and beyond.

H is for? Hornswoggle, the diminutive superstar who always brings a smile to my face.

I is for? Internet Wrestling Community, the cauldron of thoughts that never lack quantity

J is for? Jersey All Pro Wrestling, my ?home? Indy promotion. While it has been slipping in quality as of late the fact that it has given me many enthralling nights of live entertainment cannot be understated.

K is for? Kelly Kelly, because when ECW first returned to TV I had an exchange with my best friend over AIM that basically boiled down to him telling me there was a ‘stripper? undressing on the screen. I of course doubted him, but a trip up to my TiVo confirmed the odd but pleasant surprise. So ?K? is dedicated to the WWE’s youngest ever Diva

L is for? Ladders, need I say more?

M is for? Macho Man, cause I love snapping into Slim Jims

N is for? Narnia, cause Mr. V suggested it

O is for? Oh My Gawd! (Joey Styles)

P is for? Paul London, the wrestler most responsible for igniting my flame of passion for this great sport. Watching him in his ROH and early WWE days both inspired me and captured my attention during the period that would ensure I would become a lifelong fan of pro-wrestling.

Q is for? Queen Sharmell being released from WWE, I couldn?t stand her and it’s the only Q I can come up with

R is for? Royal Rumble, Let’s get ready to RUUUUUMMMMMBBBBBLLEEEEE!!

S is for? Shooting Star Press, one of the most beautiful moves to ever be performed in a professional wrestling ring

T is for? Time Limit Draws, cause sometimes it’s a good thing to end a match after 50 minutes

U is for? Undertaker, the dead man has always captivated my curiosity

V is for? Valvo, Anthony; one of my favorite current columnists on the web and a constant collaborator and muse

W is for? WrestleView, the site that not only exposed a broader audience to my work, but has some of the finest readers and writers in the world who push me to strive for perfection.

X is for? X-Division, because sometimes a spot filled cluster bomb is exactly what I want to watch

Y is for? Y2J, one of the finest to ever lace up his boots

Z is for? Zack Ryder, and more importantly his theme song ?Oh Radio? which has brought me countless moments of entertainment

Now it is your turn! Send me the things that YOU are thankful for in pro-wrestling. You certainly don?t have to do a full A-Z list, you can just shoot me a couple if that’s all you have time to put together. Next week I?ll post your responses here in this very column! As always thanks for reading and enjoy the weekend.
