?Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event?? The WWE video leads us into the show.
The WWE Superstars video plays and we?re brought into the arena to the sounds of Santino Marella’s music. This will be Raw’s contribution to the telecast tonight as Michael Cole and Jerry ?The King? Lawler welcome us to the show. Santino Marella will face the returning Chris Masters, who came back after a two year hiatus against MVP on last week’s Raw? and then promptly dropped Dr. Ken on his head a week later.
Santino Marella vs. Chris Masters
The match begins and Marella does a quick roll. Marella talks a little trash before soaking in some chants from the crowd. Marella fakes a few kicks but it doesn?t really startle Masters. They lock up and Masters quickly pushes him down. They circle the ring, lock up, and Masters pushes him down again. Marella quickly gets up and celebrates. Masters promptly kicks him in the midsection and punches him down. Masters sends him into the ropes but Marella ducks a clothesline and hits a punch. Marella goes into the ropes and hits a big forearm smash to the face, but it doesn?t take Masters down. Marella goes into the ropes again and Masters rips his head off with a clothesline.
Masters drops a leg and an elbow. Masters hits a stomp and talks a little trash. Marella fights back with some jabs but Masters quickly cuts him off with a knee to the midsection. Marella gets him on his shoulders and hits a snake eyes and Russian Leg Sweep combo for a two count. Masters locks Marella in a form of the dragon sleeper but Marella is able to fight up and arm drag him off. Masters goes for a clothesline but Marella ducks it and attempts to lock the Masterlock on Chris Masters! Masters quickly breaks out of it, punches him down, and grounds and pounds. Masters talks some trash before locking him back in that form of the dragon sleeper. Marella counters out with a jawbreaker.
Marella goes for a right hand but Masters blocks it and floors him with a punch. Masters stomps him for a bit before talking trash and slapping him around. Marella eventually ?hulks up? before yelling that Masters has made him so-a anger and he stuns Masters with some punches. Marella splits under a clothesline and hits a back elbow. Marella drops him with a hip toss and goes for a standing diving head-butt but Masters moves. Masters then locks on the Masterlock and the referee quickly ends it.

Tonight Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio will take on Mike Knox in a non-title match.
-Commercial Break-
Matt Striker thanks Aerosmith for the use of their song ?You Gotta Move,? the official theme song of Summerslam. Are they performing that at Summerslam? If so they?ll need to extend the stage for Steven Tyler, who just recently walked this way too far and fell off one.

William Regal & Paul Burchill vs. Tyler Reks & Yoshi Tatsu
Paul Burchill and Yoshi Tatsu start this one out with a lock up. Tatsu quickly gets a waist lock on but Burchill breaks the hold, wrenches the left arm, and takes him down with an arm sweep. Burchill has a standing arm bar locked on but releases it to kick the arm. Tatsu gets up and they lock up again. Tatsu wrenches the arm and goes for a key lock but Burchill hits him with a slap to the midsection. Burchill goes into the ropes so Tatsu tries to counter with a hip toss but Burchill doesn?t budge. Tatsu back flips off him and drops him with a judo throw. Tatsu hits an arm drag and keeps the arm bar locked on. Tatsu controls Burchill over to his corner and tags in Tyler Reks.
Reks sunset flips into the ring for a one count. Reks concentrates on Burchill’s arm with some wrenches before taking him down and dropping a knee on the shoulder for a two count. Reks wrenches the arm and sends him into the ropes. Burchill holds on and clubs Reks. Burchill gets a front face lock on and tags in William Regal, who comes in swinging. Regal gets a headlock on so Reks counters into one of his own. Regal sends him into the ropes and Reks hits him with a shoulder block that doesn?t take him down. Reks hits a headlock takeover. Regal attempts a pin but Reks rolls through. Regal gets to his feet and whips Reks off into a back elbow. Regal hits a European Uppercut and locks the headlock back on. Regal wrenches the arm and gets a wristlock on so Reks spins out and gets a headlock back on. Regal sends Reks into the corner so Reks slingshots over him. Regal surprises him with a back elbow and throws him out of the ring.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Reks torturing Regal with a standing arm bar. Regal gets to his feet but Reks tags in Yoshi Tatsu, who comes off the top rope with an axe handle to Regal’s injured shoulder. During the break Reks injured Regal’s shoulder by sending him into the ring apron. Tatsu twists the arm and wrenches it before quickly tagging Reks back in, who comes off the top rope with an axe handle to the shoulder. So much for originality… Reks wrenches the arm and drives some shoulders into it before tagging back in Tatsu. Tatsu comes off the top rope with a karate chop this time. Tatsu twists the arm but Regal stuns him with a knee to the midsection and tags in Burchill.
Burchill comes in viciously kneeing Tatsu in the midsection but Tatsu is able to fight back with some a forearm and some big league kicks. Burchill reverses a whip into the corner but runs right into Tatsu’s boot. Burchill goes to the second rope but a momentary distraction by William Regal is all that’s needed for Burchill to dropkick him in the knee. Burchill covers for a one count. Burchill attacks the injured leg with kicks before hitting a knee breaker. Burchill hits a nasty belly to back suplex for a near fall. Burchill tags Regal in and holds Tatsu’s leg up so Regal can drop a knee on the hamstring. Regal wrenches the knee a bit before dropping a knee on the knee. Regal attempts to hyper-extend the knee until Tatsu fights back with a kick. Regal stretches it one more time before tagging in Burchill.
Regal hits an uppercut that takes Tatsu down to his knee and Burchill hits him from behind with a European Uppercut for a near fall. Burchill now locks on a single leg crab. Burchill eventually gets Tatsu on one leg standing and Tatsu fights back with slaps. Tatsu goes for an enzuigiri but Burchill ducks it and knocks Tyler Reks down on the apron. Burchill then runs into a back body drop from Tatsu. Both men tag in their partners.
Reks ducks a clothesline and drops Regal with three dropkicks. Reks hits a leg drop and suplexes Regal for a two count. Reks ducks another clothesline and hits a diving clothesline for a two count that’s broken up by Paul Burchill. Yoshi Tatsu runs in and takes Burchill over the top rope. Reks hits Regal with a shoulder to the midsection and springboards off the top rope with a cross-body but Regal rolls through and picks up the win.

A Superstars video plays for Vladimir Kozlov. The man is a real beast. This is the same video that used to play hyping him up on Smackdown but they just edited in him saying ECW.
Jim Ross and Todd Grisham welcome us back to the show, leading us into the SMACKDOWN REBOUND! Finally! Thank you, WWE. I guess Raw was too horrible this week to recap. This past edition of Smackdown was one of the best of the year. What a tremendous Main Event between Jeff Hardy and John Morrison. Then we had the tremendous heel turn of CM Punk. That was intense. This week it?ll be Jeff Hardy defending his World Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk? on free TV!
Rey Mysterio’s music hits and he makes his way out to the ring to a tremendous reception. He?ll fight Mike Knox next.
-Commercial Break-
After Mike Knox comes out, Dolph Ziggler makes his way to the announcer’s table to provide commentary for this match.
Rey Mysterio vs. Mike Knox
The match begins and they circle the ring. Mysterio tests him out with a quick kick to the leg. Knox catches Mysterio with both hands by the throat and backs him into the corner. The referee tries to get a clean break but Knox digs a knee into Mysterio’s midsection. Knox takes him down with a forearm. Knox stomps and drops a knee on him. Knox takes him down with a right hand and drops a leg for a one count. The referee counted that from outside the ring so that shouldn?t count. I guess I?m old school. Knox sends Mysterio into the rope but Mysterio slides under a big boot and stars kicking Knox in the quadriceps. Mysterio goes into the ropes but Knox takes him down with a full body block for a two count.
Knox stomps Mysterio a few times before standing on his chest. Mysterio fights back with some punches but Knox cuts him off with a forearm. Knox drops a knee into the back and pulls back on Mysterio’s arm. Mysterio kicks him in the head a few times, getting out of the hold. Knox stuns him again with a knee to the face. Knox sends Mysterio into the ropes but lowers his head and gets kicked but Knox just stares right back at Mysterio. Knox charges but Mysterio lowers the top rope and he flies over to the outside! Mysterio goes to the apron and takes him down with a seated senton before getting back in the ring and taunting to the crowd! We?ll take a commercial break here.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Knox punching and kicking Mysterio down in the corner. Knox hits some more punches before backing up. Knox whips Mysterio into the corner but Mysterio puts the brakes on and drop toe holds Knox into the corner. Mysterio goes to the second rope and hits a diving hurricanrana, sending Knox out of the ring! Knox gets on the apron and Mysterio kicks him in the leg viciously. Knox pushes him away but Mysterio is quickly able to answer back with a dropkick to the knee. Mysterio goes into the ropes and Knox takes him down with a clothesline while on his knees.
Knox picks Mysterio up by the neck and puts him on the top rope. Knox then hits a bicycle kick, knocking Mysterio off the top rope to the outside! The referee is counting Mysterio out but Mysterio is able to get back in at the count of nine! Mysterio holds on to the ropes to avoid Knox so he hits a catapult guillotine for a near fall! Knox now locks on a bear hug. Mysterio eventually punches out of it but can?t avoid a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for a near fall. Knox hits a big splash to the back for another near fall. Knox hits another backbreaker and stretches Mysterio on his knee. Mysterio tries to punch out of it but Knox isn?t fazed. Mysterio tries again and this time counters into a head-scissors takeover!
Mysterio avoids a charging Mike Knox and he goes shoulder first into the ring post. Mysterio springboards the top rope with a seated senton and follows that up by ducking a clothesline and hitting a wheelbarrow bulldog for a near fall! Knox surprises Mysterio with a body slam but Mysterio avoids the knee drop. Mysterio kicks him in the skull for a near fall. Mysterio attempts a whip but Knox doesn?t budge. Knox sends Mysterio into the corner but runs into his boots twice. Mysterio goes into the ropes and Knox counters him with a cross-body block for a near fall! That’s impressive!
Knox picks Mysterio up and puts him on his shoulder for a slam but Mysterio counters into a swinging DDT for a near fall! That looked great. Mysterio dropkicks Knox into position and hits the 619! All of a sudden Dolph Ziggler pulls Mysterio off the apron and the referee throws the match out!
Winner by Disqualification: Rey Mysterio

Dolph Ziggler kicks Mysterio and throws him back in the ring. Knox sends Mysterio into the corner and Ziggler charges for him but Mysterio avoids it! Mysterio rolls out of the ring quickly and back up the ramp. Dolph Ziggler will compete against Mike Knox tomorrow night, as well as Finlay and R-Truth, in a Fatal Four Way to determine who will face Rey Mysterio at Summerslam for the Intercontinental Championship.

Mike’s Thoughts
This wasn?t a terrible edition of Superstars, tonight. We had a good main event despite a weak undercard. I was most excited about the Smackdown Rebound, something that WWE hardly ever does.
I was really happy with the Main Event tonight. Mike Knox really impressed me tonight against Rey Mysterio. Knox is looking great despite only being back for three weeks (and he got squashed in his first night back!). Mysterio really made his offense look great and that cross-body block from Knox looked like it killed him. Knox has a lot of control and agility for a big man. Knox is an ugly dude, but the guy sure can go.
I was disappointed with ECW’s offering tonight. William Regal and Paul Burchill tried their hardest but this one didn?t click for me. Tyler Reks and Yoshi Tatsu just don?t have anything to really get me interested. They?re way too generic in character and in ring wise. There’s nothing that makes me excited about them. The match itself was slow and boring with no real excitement at any point. What a shame.
Chris Masters vs. Santino Marella was pretty much what I thought it would be. Marella’s comedy spots didn?t do anything for me tonight. Marella is unfortunately getting really stale.
