Mephisto Successfully Defends Title Against Mistico
On the 07/12 Arena Puebla Show NWA Welterweight Champion: Mephisto successfully defended his belt against Mistico in the Main Event in his first defense of the belt that he won from La Sombra back in May. Full results from the show weren’t released but in the Semi Main the trio of Hector Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, & La Mascara defeated Ultimo Guerrero & No Limit.

Mistico to Return to Japan
New Japan Pro Wrestling announced earlier this week that Mistico would finally be making his delayed return to Japan during the August G1 Climax to take place in special attraction matches. Mistico was originally scheduled to return to Japan back in May along with Misterioso II, but due to the Swine Flu outbreak his return to Japan was canceled. No word on who his opponents will be or whether Misterioso II would be going along.

Dark Angel made her debut with TNA tonight wrestling under the name, Sarita, and she defeated Melissa Flash (also in her official debut) who is actually Raisha Saeed (wrestling under another gimmick). Sarita looked very impressive and got the win with a rollup in a very exciting back and forth match. This week Sarita also stated in Super Luchas Magazine that she would continue to live in Mexico City and wrestle for CMLL while wrestling with TNA as well.

Vampiro Breaks His Back
AAA star Vampiro broke his back after falling 15 from his bedroom window late this week after 2 men attempted to rob him. He was sleeping in his Guadalajara home when several men broke into his home, but what’s odd about this is that the police actually caught the men while Vampiro was asleep. When the police rushed into the house is when Vampiro panicked and jumped out of his window. Vampiro broke four vertebrae in his middle/lower back and herniated two discs in his neck. I send my best wishes out to Vampiro in his recovery from this.

– Charly got the clean pin on Chessman.
– Sugi made his debut with AAA and it was also the debut of Kenzo’s new unit, “Kenzo Team”, and Sugi got the clean pin in his debut on Extreme Tiger and was said to have looked very impressive. Here is a few pics of Sugi in his debut (courtesy of AAA):

– In the Main Event Silver King was about to blast Parka with a chair but El Zorro came out and stopped him. He then acted like he was going to hit King with a cane but hit Parka instead to cause Wagner & King to be DQ’ed. The return of the Wagner brothers as a team (courtesy of AAA):

Final CHIKARA Rudo Named for DGUSA Debut, New YLC Participants Announced
This week Dragon Gate USA & CHIKARA revealed that Hallowicked would join Amasis, Icarus, & Gran Akuma as the final rudo for the big 8-Man CHIKARA Tag Match at the DGUSA “Open The Historic Gate” show on July 25th. Also, Gabe Sapolsky has posted an awesome blog on the official DGUSA myspace where he reveals the reasoning behind every match booked for the debut show: click here.

Also, CHIKARA revealed the next 5 participants for this years Young Lions Cup. Those being Mid-Western INDY star Prince Mustafi Ali and the newest member to the CHIKARA roster and the The Colony: Carpenter Ant! As well as INDY wrestlers Shane Hollister and Bret “Restle” Race (who not in CHIKARA has any info on) as well as former WWE/ECW star, Colin Delaney in his Young Lions Cup debut!

Dos Caras Jr. Debuts with WWE (technically)
This past weekend former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion, Dos Caras Jr., made his debut for the WWE’s developmental territory, FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling), in a match where he was defeated by fellow developmental wrestler Kris Logan. He wrestled under the name “Dos” instead of his name Dos Caras Jr. which brings several interesting points. First, Dos claimed that he would be wrestling under the Dos Caras Jr. name and second, because he claimed he wouldn’t be going to FCW but would instead be going straight to the main roster. Way to lie through your teeth Dos! Also, Dos’ cousin Sicodelico Jr. recently made his debut with FCW wrestling under the El Sicodelico name. No word on whether or not FCW will use them as a tag team.

* NOTES *
– Lucha X is actually just an Ultimate X Match. Said to be a very good match with the near 50 year old Chicky performing an amazing dive to the floor plus a show stealing dive from Carlitos off one fo the X beams onto everyone.
– Bronco was originally scheduled to face Apollo but he no-showed the event, very classy.
– Umaga and Kennedy were both said to have looked impressive and Kennedy showed no signs of injury.
– Carlito came out and talked about turning on Primo on RAW and said he would give his brother one more chance tonight. During the match Primo accidentally hit Carlito so Carlito hit Primo with the Backstabber and then left. Thunder & Lightning then hit the Double Chokeslam on Primo and go the pin. After the match Primo got revenge on Carlito with a Backstabber of his own.
– In the Universal Title Match BJ got the clean win on Corino and afterward Corino put BJ over by shaking his hand and hugging him. BJ is the youngest Universal Champ in WWC history. After the match the lights went out and when they came back on the returning Noriega attacks BJ from behind and then pulls out a bag. When Noriega left he stole the Universal Title belt and that belt was actually in the bag and he claimed it was the real Universal Title.
– They held a ceremony to honor Hugo Savinovich in which he got real emotional.
– In the Main Event Pesadilla attempted to use brass knuckles but Trinidad took them away and ended up punching Pesadilla who then fell right into the Phoenix Landing from Rey for the pin. Pesadilla was then unmasked to reveal that he was in fact Orlando Colon! The following is a picture of the Main Event plus the HUGE crowd that showed up (around 19,000 I think): (courtesy of WWC)
