Report by: Mike Tedesco of WrestleView.com

?Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event?? The WWE video leads us into the show.

The Superstars video plays and we?re brought into the arena with a great pyro display. Michael Cole and Jerry ?The King? Lawler welcome us to the show. Our Main Event will be Smackdown’s contribution to the show and it will be Jeff Hardy and R-Truth taking on Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler. It sounds like it’s going to be a good one.

We?ll be opening up the show with Raw’s contribution and it?ll be a Shattered Dreams Production?

Goldust & Hornswoggle vs. The Brian Kendrick & Jamie Noble

They finally put Jamie Noble in tights that are more flattering for him. If only The Kendrick would follow suit.

It?ll be Goldust starting out against The Kendrick. Hornswoggle puts The Kendrick’s jacket on, causing a distraction, and he throws it in The Kendrick’s face. Goldust quickly gets on the offensive with some right hands, an Irish whip, and a big back body drop. Goldust quickly sends him back into the ropes and lays him out with a butt bump. The Kendrick then quickly makes the tag to an unwilling Jamie Noble. Noble quickly ducks a lock up and hits a back heel trip but Goldust quickly kicks him off. Goldust hits a body slam and quickly gets a headlock on. Noble puts him into the ropes and gets shoulder blocked down. Goldust goes into the ropes and over Noble. Noble attempts a hip toss but Goldust blocks it and clotheslines him down. Goldust does a shake, rattle, and roll punching combo and lays him out with a bionic elbow. Noble quickly makes the tag back in to The Kendrick.

The Kendrick runs in right into a hip toss. The Kendrick quickly pops up into a pair of arm drags and Goldust holds on to the arm bar. Hornswoggle wants the tag and Goldust gives it. Hornswoggle quickly goes up to the second rope and hits a double axe handle to The Kendrick’s arm. Hornswoggle does a little jig and The Kendrick pushes him down by the face. The Kendrick kicks him in the chest and the crowd is not happy as The Kendrick finally looks confident. He shoots a half nelson and makes the tag to Jamie Noble, who doesn?t punch Hornswoggle, even though The Kendrick wants him to, and instead hits a snapmare. Noble looks like he’s going to leg drop him but he shakes his head and tags back in The Kendrick, stating he can?t beat up Hornswoggle.

The Kendrick angrily gets back in and forces Hornswoggle to hit himself while yelling, ?Quit hitting yourself.? How cruel. Hornswoggle kicks him in the knee and The Kendrick goes down. Hornswoggle dropkicks him in the face and tags in Goldust, who comes in like a house on fire, ducking a clothesline and hitting a big clothesline of his own. A whip is reversed but Goldust bumps down and hits an uppercut. ?Vintage? Goldust here? Goldust knocks Jamie Noble down when he attempts to interfere and turns quickly enough to hit The Kendrick with an inverted atomic drop. Goldust goes into the ropes and hits a flying clothesline and quickly signals to the crowd that it’s almost over. Goldust whips him hard into the corner and hits him with a powerslam for a one count when he cuts off an interfering Jamie Noble. Goldust suplexes him over the top rope in a contender for Bump of the Night and Hornswoggle quickly hits a senton off the apron onto Noble!

Goldust gets kicked in the stomach and The Kendrick goes for The Kendrick but Goldust counters it and plants The Kendrick with a twisting suplex. Goldust tags in Hornswoggle, who goes up top and hits the Tadpole Splash for the win!

Winners by Pinfall: Goldust & Hornswoggle
Match Rating: * ?

Hornswoggle and Goldust celebrate in the ring as The Kendrick yells at Jamie Noble on the outside. His quest for the perfect tag team partner continues.

We now see a video hyping up the Submission Match between John Cena and Big Show, which will happen this Sunday at Extreme Rules. It certainly is an interesting premise with him not being able to lock on the STF. It should be a good match on Sunday.

-Commercial Break-

We?re welcomed back to the show by Josh Matthews and Matt Striker and they?re joined on commentary by the ECW Champion Christian.

David Hart Smith vs. Tommy Dreamer

This could be Tommy Dreamer’s last match on Superstars and my last time calling a Tommy Dreamer match! Christian is great on commentary, putting over David Hart Smith and Tommy Dreamer.

Jack Doane calls for the bell and they quickly lock up only for Dreamer to push him off. They lock up again and Dreamer gets a waist lock on only for Smith to do a judo hip throw, breaking him off. Smith taunts as the Hart Dynasty cheers. They lock up and Smith gets a waist lock on. Dreamer counters with an arm wrench and Smith forces Dreamer into the corner. Doane wants a clean break and Smith slaps Dreamer on the chest so Dreamer slaps him in the face. Dreamer ducks a clothesline and rolls Smith up for a two count. Smith gets up and Dreamer decks him hard. Dreamer has a whip reversed on him but he’s able to counter a hip toss with a neckbreaker. Dreamer goes for the Dreamer DDT but Smith quickly bolts out of the ring to be consoled by Tyson Kidd and Natalya.

Dreamer reaches over the rope to grab him and Smith snaps his arm off the top rope. Smith goes to work on the arm with shoulder thrusts to the joint and a standing arm bar. Dreamer counters an arm breaker into a sleeper hold. Smith sends Dreamer into the ropes but lowers his head and gets kicked in the face. Dreamer then clotheslines him out of the ring and hits him with a baseball slide when he gets up. Dreamer gets Smith up but he powers him into the ring apron. Smith now eyes up the ECW Champion and then turns into a diving clothesline off the apron from the wild veteran Dreamer! We?ll continue this match after the break.

-Commercial Break-

We come back from the break to see Dreamer drop an elbow and cover for a one count. Dreamer bounces Smith’s head off the turnbuckle and stomps him in the corner a bit. Dreamer whips him into the corner and goes into the ropes for a bulldog but Smith throws him into the ropes hard. Smith kicks him and drops an elbow. Smith knees him in the midsection, pushes Dreamer into the ropes, and forearms him in the chest before locking on an abdominal stretch. I just want to mention that Christian is amazing on commentary. Dreamer counters out with a hip toss but misses an elbow drop. Smith picks up Dreamer’s legs and stomps him in the midsection. Smith talks a little trash before stomping him on the face and covering for a one count. Smith pulls up on Dreamer’s neck but he quickly gets to his feet but Smith knees him in the midsection. Smith now hits a beautiful standing suplex, ala his famous father Davey Boy Smith, and covers for a near fall. Smith goes to the second rope for a diving leg drop but Dreamer moves out of the way.

Smith charges Dreamer in the corner and Dreamer gets a boot in his face. Dreamer starts coming back with a clothesline and a right hand. Dreamer sends him into the ropes and hits a lifting sit-out spinebuster for a near fall. Dreamer now locks on a Texas Cloverleaf which Matt Striker incorrectly calls a Sharpshooter before being corrected by Christian. Christian quickly leaves commentary and pulls a chair away that Natalya put there. While the referee is distracted by that, Tyson Kidd comes in and kicks Dreamer in the side of the head, causing Smith to get the pinfall!

Winner by Pinfall: David Hart Smith
Match Rating: * ?

The Hart Dynasty celebrates as Dreamer looks at Christian, possibly thinking that Christian deliberately caused the distraction.

Our Main Event for tonight is Jeff Hardy and R-Truth vs. Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler.

-Commercial Break-

Jim Ross and Todd Grisham welcome us back to the show. They put over Extreme Rules, specifically the Edge vs. Jeff Hardy World Heavyweight Title Ladder Match. They then show that amazing video they debuted on Monday, really hyping up this tremendous feud. I can?t wait for this match ? it’s going to be AMAZING.

They then hype the rest of the card. Extreme Rules looks like it’s going to be a great event.

Chris Jericho’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring with his usual sour look. They show his amazing beat down on Rey Mysterio from Smackdown, one of the most awesome sneak attacks ever. Jericho grabs a microphone and says from this point forward Superstars is his show because he is the ultimate Superstar. He mentions he’s the Superstar of the Year and he didn?t get it by pandering to bulbous, mucilaginous leaches like all of us, but by displaying the attributes that befit a true Superstar: cleverness, intelligence, pure, unadulterated talent, and the ability to stay one step ahead of his opponent. Case in point he ambushed and destroyed Rey Mysterio last week by wearing one of his very own masks. He covered his face like a common criminal and proved that Mysterio is nothing more than the ultimate hypocrite. Jericho says he embarrassed him, annihilated him, and he guarantees he will tear the mask off Mysterio and expose his hypocritical face to the entire world. He will then vanquish him and win the Intercontinental Championship for an unprecedented ninth time and reiterates that he guarantees it.

-Commercial Break-

A tremendous video highlights Rey Mysterio. These Superstars videos are a great exclusive to this show. I love them.

Chris Jericho & Dolph Ziggler vs. R-Truth & Jeff Hardy

They promote for tomorrow’s Smackdown a ?Special Ladder Edition? of the Cutting Edge with Jeff Hardy as the guest.

The bell sounds and it?ll be Jeff Hardy starting out against Dolph Ziggler. They lock up and Ziggler quickly digs a knee into Hardy’s midsection. Ziggler hits a right hand and has a whip reversed on him but he slides under the ropes and goes to the outside. Ziggler then turns into a nice baseball slide from Hardy and Hardy puts him back in the ring. The referee’s back is turned as Jericho pulls Hardy off the apron and throws him into the barricade. Ziggler now comes out and capitalizes by putting Hardy in the ring and dropping a big elbow for a near fall. Ziggler quickly locks on a chin lock and holds it on. The audience gets into it and Hardy gets to his feet and elbows out but Ziggler holds his hair and pulls him down. Ziggler pulls him to his corner and steps on his head as he tags in Jericho.

Jericho comes in and kicks Hardy in the ribs before hitting a back suplex. Jericho slaps him before picking him up. Jericho goes for a whip but Hardy twists the arm and hits his spinning neckbreaker. Hardy makes the tag to R-Truth and he clotheslines Jericho twice. R-Truth hits a right hand but has a whip into the corner reversed on him but he slingshots over Jericho and does a cartwheel before splitting under a clothesline and hitting a back heel kick for a near fall. R-Truth hits a right hand and tags Hardy back in.

Hardy punches Jericho in the corner and stomps him. Jericho reverses a whip into the corner but Hardy counters with Whisper in the Wind for a near fall. Hardy tags R-Truth back in and they double whip Jericho into the corner and execute Poetry in Motion. The referee admonishes Hardy as Ziggler blindsides R-Truth from behind with a dropkick. Jericho begins stomping R-Truth as we go to break.

-Commercial Break-

We come back from the break to see R-Truth locked in a chin lock by Dolph Ziggler. The crowd is really into it as R-Truth fights up and elbows but Ziggler gets a knee into the midsection. Ziggler attempts a back suplex but R-Truth counters into a cross-body for a two count. R-Truth then gets up and walks right into a huge clothesline from Ziggler. Ziggler gets a front face lock on and tags in Jericho, who punches him a bit before taunting R-Truth, asking him ?What’s up.? Jericho goes for a body slam but R-Truth wiggles out and hits some big right hands before having a whip reversed on him and being taken out by a knee to the midsection. Jericho hits a low dropkick to the face and kicks him in the ribs a bit before locking on a Tazmission. Hardy gets the crowd into it on the apron but it’s a while before R-Truth can get to his feet but he does. R-Truth attempts to punch out but Jericho gets a knee in the midsection. Jericho whips him into the ropes but R-Truth ducks the clothesline and hits a cross-body block for a two count. R-Truth then gets up into a step-up enzuigiri and Jericho covers for a near fall.

Jericho makes the tag to Dolph Ziggler and Ziggler punches him in the ribs. Ziggler hits a snapmare and drops four elbows and one big one for a near fall. Ziggler tags Jericho back in and holds R-Truth’s head up for Jericho to slap. R-Truth punches out of Jericho’s grasp. Jericho is able to duck one of those punches and go for the Walls of Jericho but R-Truth twists out. R-Truth then hits his Scissors Kick and takes a little time before tagging in Jeff Hardy and Jericho tags Ziggler.

Hardy hits Ziggler with a clothesline and some right hands before hitting his flipping mule kick. Ziggler is set up in the corner and Hardy hits the slingshot dropkick for a near fall. Ziggler hits him with a knee in the midsection and goes to bump his head off the turnbuckle but Hardy blocks it and hits another Whisper in the Wind for a near fall broken up by Jericho. R-Truth runs in and clotheslines Jericho out of the ring before hitting a sick suicide dive that could?ve broken his neck! Think back to Lita vs. Trish in the Main Event of Raw ? similar to that. Hardy now hits a Twist of Fate and a Swanton Bomb on Dolph Ziggler for the win!

Winners by Pinfall: R-Truth & Jeff Hardy
Match Rating: **

Jeff Hardy and R-Truth raise their arms in the air to end Superstars.

Mike’s Thoughts

Not much to say tonight other than it was a great show. I really love this show ? just straight up wrestling. As a wrestling fan does it get any better?

We had a great main event tag match tonight. I really like that they?re giving the rub to R-Truth and Dolph Ziggler by getting them some time with main eventers. If only they could get John Morrison in the ring with these guys more but he’s more of a slow build I suppose. Still, a great main event with no impact on anything ? just fun wrestling.

I really enjoyed the ECW match tonight in what could be Tommy Dreamer’s last match on Superstars. I?m going to miss Dreamer and I hope they give him a great match on Sunday ? he’s certainly earned it. David Hart Smith looked pretty good in the ring tonight but I think I need to see more of him before I really form an opinion. I?m really liking this Hart Trilogy though. Always good to have a little nostalgia on the show.

The Goldust and Hornswoggle pairing is a weird one but I commend the creative team for finding something to do with them. However after this pairing I?m not going to buy that they just don?t know what to do with a certain guy as a reason for a release. They can obviously find work for these two.

Final Rating: ** ?
