AAA

Konnan Rants About Other Luchadores
This past week Konnan did an interview with Box y Lucha and he ripped many former members of AAA as well as the top luchador in Lucha Libre today. Konnan started by saying L.A. Park was a liar and wanted to come back to AAA but they just don’t want him. He pretty much calls Juventud a liar and an idiot and says that Damian666 will return to CMLL soon because Perros del Mal has no TV. He then rips Perro Aguayo Jr. for not ever being a big star anywhere other than CMLL (unlike himself of course, please), and then says that Mistico is not as good as he once was and is on the decline. Do I really even need to say anything about this guy?

6) Steel Cage Match: Team AAA (El Hijo del Santo, Jack Evans, Octagon, La Parka Jr., & Vampiro) vs. Team Legion (Chessman, Electroshock, Teddy Hart, Silver King, & Kenzo Suzuki)
* NOTES *
– So things have changed up a bit since I posted the preliminary card. I keep hearing this is going to be a PPV but then I also will hear it’s not so I’m still unsure on whatsup with that. I really hope it is on PPV (that means we’ll get it online sooner).
– The two matches left I would assume will include something between X-Pac and El Zorro as well as somemore high flyers, minis, and possibly ladies. Also another match may be added.
– The Title vs. Title Match may end up being just for the AAA Title as I’m hearing that Wagner may end up getting stripped of his UWA belt if he signs an exclusive contract with AAA. When everything is set in stone which should be next week I will post the full lineup.

AAA Cruiserweight Title Tournament Quarterfinals
Escoria (Dark Scoria) vs. Alan Stone
04/10/09

This is our 3rd Quarterfinals Match and our first one with non-tag partners. They lockup but then push each other away. They lockup again and again no one can get the advantage so they shove each other away. Finally Stone gets in a side headlock and then he shoves Escoria into the corner. Stone goes for a splash but Escoria moves and then hits a running clothesline to Stone in the corner. Escoria then slides through the ropes onto the ring apron and hits another clothesline from the apron followed up by the springboard Tornillo! Escoria’s version of the move, though, is much different then others. He stands up on the middle rope from the apron with his back to the ring and then springs off the middle rope going over the top rope twisting into the Corkscrew Moonsault. It’s hard to explain but is a gorgeous move. 1?2?NO Stone kicks out. Escoria with a side kick to the back of Stone and then he taunts him. Stone jumps to his feet and hits a running Enziguri! 1?2?NO Escoria kicks out! Stone lights up Escoria’s chest with chops and then attempts to whip him into the ropes but Escoria counters with a drop toe hold and then an Elbow Drop. Escoria hits a nasty running kick to the side of Stone’s head as he lay on the mat, 1?2?NO Stone still kicks out! Escoria and Stone trade stiff chops from their knees and then Escoria leaps up with an Enziguri off of his knees! Escoria with more stiff chops and then he attempts to whip Stone into the corner but he reverses it and then charges in. Escoria gets his boot up and then climbs to the top and goes for the Corkscrew Tope but Stone catches him with a facebreaker in midair!

Winner: Alan Stone via pinfall (Facebreaker)

(Decent action but it was extremely short (shortest match of the tournament I believe) going in under 5 minutes. Decent match nonetheless just far too short. *1/2)

AAA Cruiserweight Title Tournament Quarterfinals
Extreme Tiger vs. Crazy Boy
04/10/09

This is the battle of a former Mexican Powers member against the current leader of the Mexican Powers. Both were members of the group when it was at it’s strongest (the group consisted of Juventud Guerrera, Extreme Tiger, Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, and even Ricky Marvin and Taiji Ishimori from Japan were members at one time or another). Their teams feuded over the tag titles last year when Crazy was still teaming with Joe Lider and when Tiger teamed with Halloween and both teams traded the tag belts with each other. Crazy is also the cousin of Super Crazy. They circle each other as the bell rings and then lockup and Crazy throws Tiger back. Crazy then hits a wicked forearm and then charges Tiger but gets tripped with a drop toe hold. Tiger taunts Crazy and then goes for a side headlock but Crazy avoids it and goes for a Suplex, but Tiger lands on his feet. Tiger goes for a dropkick but Crazy moves. Tiger sits up and Crazy goes for a head kick but Tiger ducks it and then jumps to his feet only to get dropkicked into the turnbuckles. Crazy charges Tiger but he moves and then charges Crazy himself, but Crazy avoids him and rolls him up. 1?2?NO Tiger kicks out! Tiger charges at Crazy but Crazy catches him and goes for a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Tiger counters into a small package and gets a nearfall. Both guys clap for each other. Tiger comes off the ropes and Crazy drops down as Tiger goes over him and then hits Tiger with a big lariat for a nearfall. Crazy attempts to whip Tiger into the ropes but Tiger counters with a rolling small package, but Crazy rolls right through and kicks Tiger in the face. Crazy goes for the Asai Moonsault but Tiger moves and then whips Crazy into the ropes and goes for a hurricanrana, but Crazy shoves him off and then whips him into the ropes. Tiger springs off of the ropes and hits a double foot stomp to the back of Crazy as he charged at Tiger! Crazy is hung up in the middle rope and Tiger hits a springboard Guillotine Leg Drop. They spill out to the floor as we see a replay of the move. Everytime I see Tiger hit that move he always hooks his arm around the top rope as he lands on his opponent and If he keeps doing that he’s going to end up tearing a ligament in that arm but it snatches his arm hard. Back in the ring Tiger charges at Crazy and Crazy goes for a tilt-a-whirl but Tiger lands on his feet. Crazy kicks Tiger in the gut and then the face and then hits a sunset flip Lung Blower! 1?2?NO Tiger kicks out. Crazy with a neckbreaker and then he hits a front suplex for another nearfall. Crazy comes off the ropes and Tiger shoves him and then he lays down between Crazy’s legs and then rolls him over into a kind of modified Boston Crab. Winner: Extreme Tiger via pinfall (450-Splash)
(Pretty decent stuff and both guys are notorious for botching moves but neither did it too much here though they both worked a little too slow at times. Some good counter wrestling and some really nice high spots especially the springboard corkscrew from Tiger. **)

Next week is Super Fly vs. Laredo Kid and Rocky Romero vs. Alex Koslov in the final two Quarterfinals matches.
