Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s ROH on Sinclair recap.

If you all are ready, then let’s get on with the show!

We see video highlighting last week’s Survival of the Fittest qualifying match between Adam Cole & Tadarius Thomas before the usual intro.

Kevin Kelly & Nigel McGuinness welcome us to the show, from the Du Burns Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. Kelly & McGuinness hype up tonight’s 2 Survival of the Fittest qualifying matches, as well as Kevin Steen defending the ROH World Title in the main event before the opening match.

Survival of the Fittest 2012 Qualifying Match: “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett w/”Brutal” Bob Evans & “The 1st Lady of ROH” Maria Kanellis vs. “American Wolf” Davey Richards

“Welcome back” chants for Richards before the bell sounds. Bennett then somewhat adheres to the Code of Honor as the bell sounds. Bennett charges instantly, but Richards nails him with a roundhouse kick to the head, followed by a roll-up for a quick nearfall. Richards with a running forearm in the corner, then hits a flurry of kicks to Bennett’s chest and Richards is all fired up. Corner whip by Richards, followed by another running forearm. Richards with a clothesline for a nearfall. Richards locks in the Anklelock, but Bennett quickly gets himself to the ropes to force a break. Bennett goes to the outside, but Richards goes out after him, looking for the running apron kick, however Bennett puts Maria in front of him as a shield. Richards then gives chase to Bennett, but is then decked by a hard right hand from Evans on the outside. Headfirst goes Richards off the apron, followed by a hard right hand. Bennett with another right hand, but Richards comes back with a series of kicks to the chest. Bennett is whipped into the barricade, then Richards drills him with a running Yakuza kick. Back in the ring, Richards with a single leg takedown, then hooks Bennett in a version of an Indian Deathlock. Richards points to Maria, does a little hip swivel that grosses Maria out, then drops back to do damage to the legs of Bennett. Richards gets back up, does another hip swivel, flexes his muscles, then drops back again. Bennett, though, is able to get to the ropes to force a break. Bennett then comes back with a back elbow after reversing an Irish whip. Richards rolls out to the outside while Bennett goes after him. Bennett, noticeably limping after the damage done to his leg thus far, nails Richards with a headbutt, followed by a pair of chops. Richards reverses a whip, but Bennett is able to put on the brakes before going into the ringpost. Richards charges, but Bennett catches him with a spinebuster, sending Richards backfirst across the apron. Bennett taunts the crowd as we go to commercial.

Commercial

Back from commercial as Richards with an inside cradle for a nearfall. Bennett then drills Richards with a clothesline for a nearfall. Bennett with a chinlock, but Richards counters out with a jawbreaker. Both men exchange strikes until Richards with a series of forearms. Richards goes off the ropes, but Bennett catches him with a superkick for a nearfall. Bennett with a suplex for another nearfall. Bennett with a seated double chickenwing as the crowd wills on Richards. Richards gets his foot on the ropes to break the hold, but then Bennett trash talks him. Bennett with another hard right hand, but Richards fires back. Nigel mentions on commentary Maria’s cat ears that she is wearing, saying he has always wanted to see her……….well, I think you all get the picture. Back to live action as Richards with a kick to the chest, but Bennett with a right hand. Richards with another kick, but Bennett rakes his eyes. Bennett starts to go off the ropes, but Richards comes in with him and nails Bennett with a clothesline that sends him over the ropes and to the outside. Richards then gets a head of steam and nails Bennett with a tope dive.

Back in the ring, Richards heads up top, howls, then connects with a front missile dropkick. Richards charges at Bennett in the corner, but Bennett gets a boot up. Bennett charges, but Richards catches him with a spinning back kick to the gut. Bennett reverses a whip, but Richards slides under his legs. Bennett catches a Richards kick, but Richards with a series of open hand palm strikes, followed by an enziguri for a nearfall. Bennett rolls out onto the apron as Richards goes after him. Richards points at Evans, who backs off, as Richards goes for an Exploder suplex on the apron, but Bennett blocks it with elbows. Richards with a pair of kicks to the chest, then goes for a 3rd, but Bennett moves out of the way and Richards catches nothing but ringpost. Bennett then hops back on the apron and nails Richards with a Spear. Back in the ring, Bennett gains a close nearfall. Richards is clutching his ankle as Bennett proceeds to lock Richards in his own Anklelock in the center of the ring. However, Richards is able to counter out with a roll-up for a nearfall. Richards is still favoring the ankle as Bennett lifts him up for the Photo Finish, but Richards fights out. Richards tries for an O’Connor Roll, but Evans holds onto Bennett to prevent it. Bennett charges, but Richards catches him with an Exploder suplex. Richards then goes out onto the apron and takes out Evans with the running apron kick. Richards heads up top and hits another front missile dropkick, this time to the side of Bennett’s head for a close nearfall. Richards locks back in the Anklelock, but Bennett counters out and in doing so, sends Richards right into a hard slap by Maria.

Bennett lifts up Richards and hits the Photo Finish, but all of a sudden, we see Mike Mondo run out, grab Maria, and proceed to kiss her once again. Bennett sees this, stops from making a cover and goes after Mondo. Bennett tries to give chase to Mondo, but the damage to his leg stops him from catching up to Mondo. Bennett goes back into the ring, but Richards catches him and connects with the Alarm Clock kick.

Richards does a throat slash, then hits a running sliding kick to Bennett for the victory.

Winner and advancing to the finals of Survival of the Fittest 2012: “American Wolf” Davey Richards by pinfall (Running Sliding Kick)

Richards celebrates his win, with Evans’ cigar in his mouth, as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, we go to Kelly & Nigel, who say that Tomasso Ciampa is scheduled to compete in the next match, but Ciampa suffered a knee injury back at “Boiling Point” and may not be able to compete. We see video of the injury, then Barrister RD Evans comes out with Ciampa, who is on crutches and in street clothes, looking like he will not be able to compete.

Evans: “Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Barrister RD Evans”. “But, I’m sure you already know that”. “And allow me to tell you something else that you already know”. “It is no secret that this man, Tomasso Ciampa (crowd cheers for Ciampa), suffered both a torn ACL & meniscus at ROH “Boiling Point” in Providence, Rhode Island”. And yet, in spite of that injury, which would cripple any other man, I told ROH officials, hold his spot in tonight’s Survival of the Fittest Tournament”. “I gave my word, MY client will compete”. “Because you see, Tomasso Ciampa, despite this injury, took Jay Lethal to the limit in a 2 out of 3 falls match”. “He muscled through what would have put any other man down”. “He proved on that night that he was a warrior”. ” A CHAMPION!” “A GLADIATOR!” “A THROUGHBRED!” ‘And you know what you do with a thoroughbred when he breaks his leg?” “You shoot him”. “I gave my word that my client would compete tonight, so ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce my newest client, God’s Gift, QT MARSHALL!”

Ciampa can’t believe it as he goes after Evans and thinks about going for Project Ciampa, but Marshall distracts him. While doing so, Evans grabs one of Ciampa’s crutches and blasts Ciampa right in the injured leg with it. Marshall comes in and puts the boots to Ciampa while Evans cheers him on. Marshall then takes the crutch and blasts Ciampa multiple times in the injured leg while for some reason, a hashtag is put on the screen of #MyKneeHurts. Referees and security come out and attend to Ciampa while Evans & Marshall gloat in the ring about what they have done as we go to commercial.

Survival of the Fittest 2012 Qualifying Match: “God’s Gift” QT Marshall w/Barrister RD Evans vs. Jay Lethal

Crowd chants for Lethal before the bell sounds. Marshall thinks about adhering to the Code of Honor, but backs off when Lethal thinks about kicking him low. Bell sounds and Lethal drills Marshall with a superkick that sends Marshall through the ropes and onto the apron. Lethal with a springboard dropkick that knocks Marshall off the apron and to the outside. Lethal then gets a head of steam and nails Marshall with a tope dive that sends Marshall back first into the barricade. Lethal sends Evans scurrying away, then nails a club to the back and a chop to Marshall. Marshall comes back with a kick to the gut, then sends Lethal back in the ring. Lethal, however, greets Marshall back in the ring with a pair of double sledges to the back. Lethal with a pair of chops in the corner, but Marshall spins him around and connects with a series of forearms. Lethal then spins Marshall back and hits a series of chops. Lethal with a corner whip, followed by a high back drop with great elevation for a nearfall. Crowd chants “Let’s go Lethal” as he connects with the hiptoss/cartwheel/front dropkick combo for another nearfall. Marshall reverses a whip, but Lethal sidesteps a back drop attempt. Lethal with a spinning back kick to the gut, then starts to go off the ropes for the Lethal Injection, but instead stomps on Evans’ fingers. Lethal then sidesteps Marshall and sends him through the ropes and to the outside, colliding with Evans. Lethal starts to get a head of steam, but Marshall comes back in and catches Lethal, connecting with a tilt-a-whirl slam for a 1 count.

Marshall uses his boot to rake the face of Lethal, followed by a forearm. Marshall unloads with stomps in the corner, then chokes Lethal with his boot. Marshall has words with the referee, allowing Evans to choke Lethal from the outside. Marshall with a slam, followed by a pair of elbow drops. Marshall thinks about going for a trifecta, but instead walks over Lethal’s throat. Marshall taunts the crowd, but then Lethal fights back. Marshall comes back with a kick to the gut, but Lethal reverses a corner whip and nails Marshall with a running shoulder to the gut. Lethal charges, looking for another running shoulder, but Marshall moves and Lethal goes face first into the middle turnbuckle. Marshall with a pin attempt and tries to put his feet on the ropes for extra leverage, but the referee catches him in the act and stops the pinfall. Marshall has words with the referee, then hits Lethal with a back suplex for a nearfall. Marshall paintbrushes Lethal multiple times in the back of the head, but that only fires up Lethal, who fires back with a series of right hands and chops. Lethal slides underneath Marshall’s legs and hits another chop, but Marshall with a knee to the gut. Marshall with a whip, but Lethal stops himself, then connects with a springboard turnaround crossbody.

Lethal with a pair of clotheslines, Marshall reverses a whip, but Lethal connects with a back handspring elbow. Lethal calls for the Lethal Injection, but Marshall waistlocks him to prevent it. Lethal breaks free, but Marshall catches him with a one man flapjack. Marshall then turns Lethal inside out with a clothesline for a close nearfall. Crowd again chants “Let’s go Lethal” as Marshall mocks Lethal’s call of the Lethal Injection, but Lethal then drills him with another superkick. Lethal hits the Lethal Combination, then motions that he is heading up top. Lethal gets Marshall in place, then heads up top. However, Evans gets on the apron, distracting Lethal. Lethal takes a swing, but Evans drops down to the apron. All of a sudden, Prince Nana runs out and attacks Evans while Marshall nails Lethal from behind. Marshall sets up Lethal for something, but is distracted by what’s going on with Evans & Nana as Nana sends Evans hard into the barricade. Referees come out to get Nana away from Evans as Marshall misses a clothesline attempt.

Lethal then hits the non-handspring version of the Lethal Injection for the victory.

“Inside Ring of Honor”

  • We first see video of what happened last week on ROH TV involving Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team, Rhett Titus & BJ Whitmer.
  • In the main event on this week’s ROH TV, ROH World Champion Kevin Steen will defend the title against Rhett Titus. We go to comments from Titus.

    Titus: “Tonight is my 1st opportunity at the Ring of Honor World Title”. “I’ve been wanting this since I was a little kid, going to Ring of Honor shows, collecting Ring of Honor DVDs”. “Kevin Steen, you’re looking at the challengers past Rhett Titus, but the problem is, you should be focused very clear on this face right here, cuz this is the guy who’s gonna surprise you and all your little scumbags and take that Ring of Honor World Title”.

  • We next see video of last week’s confrontation between Kevin Steen and Michael Elgin and the fact that when S.C.U.M. attacked Elgin, Roderick Strong refused to help him. Next week, its a battle of House of Truth members as Rhino takes on Michael Elgin. We go to comments from all the members of the House of Truth on the group’s continued turmoil.

    Martini: “At Survival of the Fittest in the random drawing, they pulled out Rhino vs. “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin”. “Hell, even a blind man can see that there’s a plot against the House”.

    Elgin: “All this talk about truth, well broken promises and lies lead the way”.

    Martini: “Now, the House, we’re a family, so I’m asking either Rhino or Elgin, one of you, please step aside and let the other advance for the good of the family”.

    Rhino: “They pay me a lot of money to take people out, but there’s not enough money in the world to have me roll over, play dead, or back out of a fight”.

    Elgin: “For 2 years now, Truth, its been “Roddy this” and “Roddy that”, “Roddy’s gonna be the World Champion, Roddy’s gonna be the Tag Champion, Roddy’s gonna be the TV Champion””.

    Strong: “You know Michael Elgin was pretty good when he was carrying my bags and now, now his head’s almost getting as big as my b***s”.

    Martini: “The Book of Truth states, from each according to his ability, to each according to its needs, this is what we need”.

    Rhino: “The Man Beast, Rhino, never backs down from any man”.

    Elgin: “Its not about Roderick, its about Michael Elgin”.

    Strong: “Michael Elgin, I’m gonna teach you your place”.

    Elgin: “Well, if the House of Truth is built around a man like Roderick Strong instead of me, I’m gonna tear it down brick by brick”.

    Martini: “And I am confident that everything will turn out just fine”. (laughs)

    Back from commercial as ROH Tag Team Champion Steve Corino has joined Kelly & Nigel at the commentary table for the main event. Before that, Corino has a letter from ROH concerning an incident that took place involving Kevin Steen hitting a fan in the front row at “Boiling Point”. Corino says that the letter states that Kevin Steen & S.C.U.M. are not to be within 100 feet of the Sinclair Affiliates dinner coming up. If Steen tries to attend, he will be subject to arrest. Corino complains about it and that champions should be at the dinner.

    Main Event for the Ring of Honor World Title: “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen (c) w/Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champion “The Zombie Princess” Jimmy Jacobs vs. “Ruthless” Rhett Titus w/BJ Whitmer

    Titus attacks Steen in the rampway before Steen can make to the ring and the bell sounds to kick things off. Steen fights back, but Titus reverses a whip and sends Steen into the barricade. Titus sends Steen into the barricades again, then sends him back into the ring. Titus with a right hand, but Steen single legs him and nails him with a stomp. Steen with a short-arm clothesline, followed by a chop. Titus fights back, but Steen rakes the eyes. Steen with a forearm, but Titus reverses a whip. Titus with a pair of leapfrogs over Steen, then nails him with a dropkick. Steen rolls out to the outside as Titus gets a head of steam, but stops himself as Jacobs moves Steen away. Whitmer starts to move towards Jacobs & Steen, but it was only to distract them as Titus charges and connects with a somersault plancha onto both Jacobs & Steen on the outside. Back in the ring, Titus with a leapfrog fameasser for a nearfall. Titus bites at Steen, but Steen counters a whip attempt and lifts up Titus for the F-Cinq, but Titus slips out. Titus shoves off Steen, but Steen nails him with a kick to the gut. Steen sends Titus to the apron, but Titus with a shoulder to the gut. Steen then stops a 2nd shoulder with a kick to the gut, then drills Titus with the apron spike DDT for a nearfall. Steen heads up top, but Titus stops him. Titus goes up with Steen and tries for a rana, but Steen slips out and crotches Titus on the top turnbuckle.

    Steen places Titus in the Tree of Woe, then charges and connects with the Cannonball. Steen taunts the crowd, then stomps away at Titus. Steen taunts the crowd again, then trash talks Titus as he stomps him. Steen tries to bring out Titus from the corner the hard way, but Titus lands on his feet. Steen misses a clothesline and Titus nails him with a boot to the face. Titus with a 2nd boot, followed by a discus clothesline. Titus charges and connects with a running dropkick in the corner on Steen for a nearfall. Steen goes onto the apron as Titus stomps away. Steen drops down to the apron and pulls Titus out with him. Steen goes for the apron powerbomb, but Titus breaks free. Titus with right hands, then nails Jacobs with one as he was trying to go after him. Titus charges, but Steen drills him with the Alley-Oop Powerbomb onto the apron. Back in the ring, Steen only gets a 2 count. Steen heads up top and goes for a moonsault, but Titus moves out of the way.

    Steen clutches his leg as the crowd wills on Titus. Titus heads up top, but Jacobs is on the apron and pulls out the spike. However, Whitmer comes in and nails Jacobs with a right hand to prevent him from nailing Titus with the spike. Titus hops off the ropes and picks up the spike that was dropped by Jacobs. On the outside, Whitmer sends Jacobs hard into the barricade. Titus goes to nail Steen with the spike, but the referee grabs him arm to stop him, as it would be a DQ and Steen would retain the title. Titus & the referee argue, but then Steen nails Titus with a superkick.

    Steen lifts up Titus and this time hits the F-Cinq to retain the title.

    Winner and STILL Ring of Honor World Champion: “Mr. Wrestling” Kevin Steen by pinfall (F-Cinq)

    Steen celebrates his win while Corino says that S.C.U.M. might just crash the affiliates dinner as we go to credits.
