Commercial

Back from commercial, match-maker Nigel McGuinness is in the ring. Nigel says we are at an unprecedented moment in ROH. Because of the injuries Jay Briscoe suffered at the hands of SCUM 2 weeks ago, I was forced to strip Jay of the ROH World Title. Today, for the first time ever in ROH history, the ROH World Title is vacant. The war with SCUM is over, honor has been restored, but one of the causalities of that war will forever be Jay’s ROH title reign. If you think that was an easy decision for me, you’re wrong. No one questions the toughness of Jay. No one questions what Jay has done for ROH and you can’t take away what Jay did as ROH champion. But, when the doctor looks at his shoulder and says that he can’t wrestle for 3-4 months, the decision is out of my hands. Now, we have to get a new ROH champion. In 3 weeks, the beginning of the ROH World Title tournament with 16 of the best wrestlers in the world will start and will end at Death Before Dishonor in the hometown of ROH, Philadelphia, where we will crown a new ROH champion. With the absence of the ROH title, we are gonna put more emphasis on the ROH tag titles and bring in some of the best tag teams in the world.

The music of the ROH Tag Team Champions hits as reDRagon makes their way to the ring. Nigel says that reDRagon are the best tag team in the world today. Bobby Fish says that it is no secret that since these titles have been around their waists, TV ratings are up. The live attendance is up. They are here to do Nigel and Ring of Honor a favor. The tag title defenses are piling up and their mythical level as champions has made them man up. Tonight, they have the Forever Fooligans . . . Hooligans in a Proving Ground match. As the saviors of Ring of Honor, he has an offer for Nigel. Instead of a Proving Ground match, why not make it for the ROH Tag Titles. Don’t get this twisted. They are not doing it for the fans. Nigel says that sounds fantastic idea so the titles will be on the line.

The music of the American Wolves hits and they make their way to the ring. Davey Richards says that he is giving reDRagon props for having the b***s to put the titles on the line. Romero and Koslov are a great team. reDRagon are a great team. However, the former champions, Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards are not in the World Title Tournament because they are ready to become World Tag Team Champions. Whatever happens tonight, keep the belts warm because they are coming to collect.

“inside Ring of Honor”

We see footage from Jay Briscoe after he was stripped of the title.

We go to footage of Michael Elgin saying that he will not accept being handed the ROH World title because he would not be the best. The best earns everything he has.

Sixteen men will enter a tournament to see who will become the next ROH World Champion starting in a few weeks and ending at Death Before Dishonor in Philadelphia on September 20. Every match in the tournament will be on television.

Michael Elgin says he did everything Nigel wanted in Ring of Honor and now Nigel has done what he asked. Sixteen men to determine who will be the next ROH World Champion. Any man can win a match, but it takes a real man and a true champion to win four matches. Elgin says that he has fought long and hard for Ring of Honor and now he will fight for himself.

Before the tournament starts, we have a qualifying match between Adam Page and Silas Young on this week’s show, which will be……..NEXT!
