Paul Heyman on his and Brock Lesnar’s WWE future

The New York Post is featuring an interview with Paul Heyman where he address his contractual future with WWE, along with WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, following WrestleMania 34 this Sunday night in New Orleans.

Heyman admits Sunday could be the last time he walks to a WWE ring as the advocate for Brock Lesnar in the company going forward.

“The reasons are rather public. Brock is eyeballing a return to the octagon. He’s made no secret about it. He’s out in Las Vegas at the UFC offices taking a selfie with Dana White wearing a UFC T-shirt. These are not secret negotiations. The fact that both our contracts are coming due is not a secret, either. Is this the last time that Brock Lesnar goes out to the ring in WWE, I truly don’t know that answer because what we’re focused on at the moment is … Brock is very laser focused on the task at hand. Once we’re done with that task then we’ll focus on what happens after April 8th. It’s just the mindset that Brock Lesnar has and it’s worked for him every since he won an NCAA Division I heavyweight championship.”

Heyman also thinks now is a good time for Lesnar to negotiate a return to the UFC with Ronda Rousey transitioning to WWE and Conor McGregor’s MMA future in doubt.

“The three biggest box office attractions in UFC history are Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor. Ronda Rousey is now full time with WWE. Conor McGregor is a cottage industry all of his own, which frees up Brock Lesnar to come in and take over as the preeminent box office attraction in UFC. The UFC needs someone they can bank on and not spend a year negotiating with just getting them into the cage, which is the case with Conor McGregor. If Ronda Rousey ever goes back, it won’t be within the next year, so I think it’s a perfect time for Brock Lesnar because UFC is in desperate need of a top box office attraction and his box office receipts speak for themselves.”
