Tampa Bay Wrestlemania bid

According to a report from Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa’s Sports Commission executive director Rob Higgins announced that the city of Tampa was set to bid for a WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium in 2023, 2024 or 2025.

They also were bidding for a Royal Rumble event possibly in 2022 or 2023. The bid was expected to have been placed yesterday.

Tampa is set to host its five Super Bowl event in 2021 and now are looking to host the Super Bowl of wrestling, WrestleMania.

“Naturally, we think with the rich tradition of professional wrestling in our community, with so many (WWE stars) who live here, with how much passion there is for professional wrestling, that it makes a lot of sense to try to host the premier event in Wrestlemania.” – Tampa Bay Sports Commission executive director, Rob Higgins

Titus O’Neil was in attendance on Thursday during the announcement of this bid.

The last WrestleMania to be held in the State of Florida was in Orlando for WrestleMania 33 at the Camping World Stadium. That event drew 75,000 people.
