Latest testimony for Amann vs. Punk and Cabana, What the “CM” in CM Punk stands for

Latest testimony for Amann vs. Punk and Cabana

Both Phil “CM Punk” Brooks and Scott “Colt Cabana” Colton testified on Friday morning in the civil trial lawsuit brought forth by WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann.

According to a recap by The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online, Cabana testified to seeing the lump in question more than once that Punk discussed both on the “Art of Wrestling” podcast and later in media interviews.

Punk claimed Amann had falsely diagnosed a lump that “grew to the size of a baseball” and later turned into a staph infection. Punk also claimed Amann failed to treat his concussion symptoms saying that he was only prescribed antibiotics as treatment.

Regarding the “Art of Wrestling” podcast that was released to the public in November of 2014, Punk testified that he was “bitter” when recording it. He also stated that in late 2013 he was vomiting after every match. Punk became emotional discussing his physical well-being around the time of 2014 Royal Rumble match where it was believed he suffered a concussion. Members of WWE’s production staff also testified regarding the situation, including producer Michael Hayes instructing Punk be removed from the match.

What the “CM” in CM Punk stands for

During testimony on Friday, CM Punk discussed the origins of his pro wrestling name and the nickname he continues to use in his mixed martial arts career in the UFC.

According to a recap by Ross Berman of WrestleZone, Punk talked about being a member of a tag team called the Chick Magnets and confirmed that is where he got the CM from.

As strange as it sounds, the testimony is now public record and a confirmation of a rumor that many wrestling fans had suspected for quite some time.
