Jeff Hardy to defend the WWE United States Championship at Extreme Rules PPV

Extreme Rules

Following tonight’s episode of Smackdown Live, a new championship match was made official for the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV on July 15 in Pittsburgh.

Jeff Hardy will defend the WWE United States Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura in two weeks in a match that was planned to take place on Smackdown Live last week.

As reported earlier, Nakamura was pulled from the ring (including last week’s Smackdown Live taping and live events overseas in Japan and Taiwan) after he was bit on the leg by a police dog backstage at a WWE live event in Bakersfield. WWE had previously booked a match between Hardy and Nakamura last week and had to call it off as a result.
