SPOILER: First ever NXT UK Women’s Champion crowned on Sunday in Birmingham

NXT UK

WWE held a second night of NXT UK TV tapings in Birmingham on Sunday.

Rhea Ripley, a 21-year-old from Australia, defeated Toni Storm in the finals to become the first ever NXT UK Women’s Champion at the tapings this evening.

Triple H and NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint presented Ripley with the new championship, which was first revealed by WWE on social media on Saturday.

WWE has still not announced an official debut date for NXT UK on the WWE Network. The promotion has been airing “coming soon” videos in recent weeks, while Triple H wouldn’t commit to an air date during a recent NXT conference call with the media.

The company did confirm that the NXT UK Women’s Championship would be defended at the upcoming Evolution PPV on October 28. Along with the new title, the finals of this year’s Mae Young Classic tournament will also be held at the all-women’s PPV.
