Predictions: WWE’s Tables, Ladders, Chairs PPV

Predictions from the Faculty
WWE TLC 2010
December 19, 2010
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty”. This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View. This weekend we will provide our selections for WWE TLC 2010. The show will be held in Houston, TX.

The card features six matches as of the time I typed this piece. More than likely, those are the only matches we will predict.

As for the columnists, Dave Stephens posted the best record out of the Wrestleview Staff (as well as our loyal readers of this column) and opened up a 3-win lead over Josh Boutwell with just three pay-per-views left to predict. “Dean” Stephens may think that he can cost his way to the top spot, however many believe that this will make Professor Boutwell very hungry, as he hopes to pick up a win or two more than Stephens. Another place to look is from 3rd place to 8th place, as there is only a 2-win difference. We have only done this for two years, and this is by far the closest battle.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case it will be Royal Rumble 2011).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks under the “Student of the Week” tab in the predictions standings. We all thank you for your participation.

Before I show the class our selections, here are the rankings as of TNA’s Final Resolution.

Current Standings

2010-2011 Season (As of TNA’s Final Resolution 2010)

1) David Stephens (That’s a Wrap and RAW Recapper)………….94-55 (7-2)
2) Josh Boutwell (Viva La Raza and TNA Recapper)……………….91-58 (5-4)
3) Anthony Valvo (From the Desk of Mr. V)…………………………….87-62 (5-4)
4) Students of the Week (The Best from Prev. PPV)………………86-63 (5-4)
5) Wrestleview Students (The Loyal Readers)………………………..86-63 (5-4)
6) Daniel Browne (For Queen and Country)…………………………….86-63 (6-3)
7) Jose Marrero (Wrestling Rumblings)……………………………………85-64 (2-7)
8) Matt O’Brien (Notes From The Nosebleeds)…………………………85-64 (6-3)
9) Jeff Springer (WWE Superstars Recapper)……………………………73-50 (6-3)
10) Mike Tedesco (Friday Night Smackdown Recapper)……………59-43 (0-0)
11) Doug Lackey (Reality From Ringside)…………………………………..52-42 (0-0)
12) Sean Hurley (The Sharpshooter)………………………………………..37-39 (5-4)
13) Joe Baiamonte (Baiamonte’s Casa/2009 WV Champ)………24-20 (0-0)
14) Enzo Mendicino (WWE NXT Recapper)………………………………….21-15 (6-3)
15) Ryan Rivera (ROH on HDNet Recapper)……………………………….16-7 (5-4)
16) Clinton Bowman (Velvet Room Co-Host)……………………………….6-1 (6-1)
17) Nicholas Gray (Velvet Room Co-Host)……………………………………4-5 (4-5)

This week’s Students of the Week are Tim Marshall and Ken Konarzewski. He was the “Wrestleview Student” who had the best TNA Final Resolution record (6-3 for both) and defeated the last Student of the Week, who was Brian Czygan. Remember, in order for a Wrestleview Student to defeat a Student of the Week is to defeat them outright. If a Student of the Week ties the WV Students for best record, then the Student of the Week retains their spot.

Predictions for WWE’s TLC 2010

***NON-TITLE MATCHES***

Tag Team Tables Divas Match
LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool) vs. Natalya and Beth Phoenix

David S. – NATALYA AND BETH PHOENIX.

Josh B. – BETH AND NATTIE.

Anthony V. – I know one thing; whoever is aligned with Hornswoggle usually gets a push. It usually happens. Now who on LayCool will go through a table? We all know that Taker is the only one who is allowed to plow Michelle through a table, so Layla is going to take one of the biggest bumps among divas in some time. NATALYA and BETH win with possibly the aid of Hornswoggle.

Tim M. – BETH PHOENIX AND NATALYA over Laycool.

Ken K. – NATTY/BETH.

Jose M. – I don’t see LAYCOOL going through tables so I am giving them the win. Does anyone even know if both women have to go through the table in this match?

Matt O. – LAYCOOL.

Jeff S. – BETH PHOENIX AND NATALYA.

Mike T. – BETH PHOENIX AND NATALYA.

Enzo M. – I say Beth Phoenix turns heel which leads to LAYCOOL winning.

Ryan R. – Seeing as how this is the most pointless match on the ppv, if I have to choose, I would see an easy win for BETH PHOENIX AND NATALYA.

Clinton B. – TEAM SHIMMER (NATTIE AND BETH).

Nicholas G. – LAYCOOL.

CONSENSUS: NATALYA AND BETH PHOENIX 9-4. Though some chose LayCool in a minor upset, the momentum currently is on the side of the dominant divas in the division. Expect a victory for Natalya and Beth.

Ladders Match to determine the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship
John Morrison vs. King Sheamus

David S. – JOHN MORRISON.

Josh B. – MORRISON.

Anthony V. – I know my powers at Wrestleview won’t like this, but I am picking JOHN MORRISON to go over. Sheamus will soon be feuding with HHH and Morrison could use this as a title match on a Raw. Plus, I could use a break from Orton in the title picture. Miz vs. Morrison could tell a good story. If I am wrong, so be it.

Tim M. – MORRISON over King Sheamus of Hellmanshire to become #1 Contender.

Ken K. – JOHN MORRISON.

Jose M. – MORRISON, I am not sure if it’s going to be him vs. Miz at the PPV but even him vs. Miz on Raw is something different and that I am looking forward to.

Matt O. – MORRISON.

Jeff S. – JOHN MORRISON.

Mike T. – KING SHEAMUS.

Enzo M. – JOHN MORRISON cause Sheamus is going to go in a feud with HHH.

Ryan R. – It’s time for Morrison to finally get his championship match. JOHN MORRISON will win!

Clinton B. – MORRISON, so the WWE can swerve the IWC.

Nicholas G. – JOMO (MORRISON).

CONSENSUS: JOHN MORRISON 12-1. In a feud that has lasted for months, it appears that most of the staff chose the underdog to defeat the King in this ladder contest. So, expect Morrison to get that World Title Shot vs. The Miz in the future.

Chairs Match
John Cena vs. Wade Barrett

David S. – JOHN CENA.

Josh B. – CENA.

Anthony V. – It’s a grudge match; don’t bet against JOHN CENA in a grudge match.

Tim M. – JOHN CENA will defeat Wade Barrett. I think Nexus will turn on Wade.

Ken K. – JOHN CENA.

Jose M. – JOHN CENA, I think he has done enough jobs lately and should get his revenge here.

Matt O. – BARRETT.

Jeff S. – JOHN CENA.

Mike T. – JOHN CENA.

Enzo M. – JOHN CENA.

Ryan R. – CENA (unfortunately).

Clinton B. – BARRETT by way of Nexus.

Nicholas G. – WADE.

CONSENSUS: JOHN CENA 10-3. Though some think that Nexus will aid Barrett to victory, most of the staff usually never goes against Cena in a big match. Don’t be surprised if it is wrong, but most went with the CENAtion.

***CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES***

FOR THE WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Ladders Match
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger

David S. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Josh B. – ZIGGLER.

Anthony V. – Man, what happened to Swagger? Still, I like the element and Swagger will be a big part of it. Kingston and Ziggler just don’t have good chemistry in the ring. I think KOFI KINGSTON has chased enough, and will be the next champion.

Tim M. – KOFI KINGSTON will defeat Swagger and Ziggler to become Intercontinental Champion.

Ken K. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Jose M. – JACK SWAGGER because I think he should be pushed again.

Matt O. – SWAGGER.

Jeff S. – KOFI KINGSTON.

Mike T. – KOFI KINGSTON.

Enzo M. – I say SWAGGER.

Ryan R. – Tough choice, but my money is on KOFI KINGSTON to win.

Clinton B. – SWAGGER. They need Swagger to win so Ziggler can hot shot to the main event.

Nicholas G. – J. SWAGGS.

CONSENSUS: A Tie for JACK SWAGGER and KOFI KINGSTON with 5 each; Ziggler only got 3. Though some predict that the champion will retain, ten of the thirteen members in this committee predicts that there will be a new champion. However, we could not pick exactly who will win the Intercontinental Champion. All we can say is that it should change hands.

FOR THE WWE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Tables Match
The Miz (c) vs. Randy Orton

David S. – THE MIZ.

Josh B. – THE MIZ.

Anthony V. – As much as I like Orton, I think it would be best for him to just kick mid-carders around for a month. I think THE MIZ retains via some heel tactic. Or Orton “accidently” goes through a table. Say what you want, but The Miz is a tremendous, marketable heel champion.

Tim M. – THE MIZ will put Randy Orton through a table to retain WWE Championship.

Ken K. – MIZ.

Jose M. – THE MIZ because this title reign works right now.

Matt O. – MIZ.

Jeff S. – THE MIZ.

Mike T. – THE MIZ.

Enzo M. – MIZ.

Ryan R. – ORTON.

Clinton B. – THE MIZ

Nicholas G. – MIZ.

CONSENSUS: THE MIZ 12-1. Though one went with Orton, the staff overwhelmingly went with “The Awesome One” to retain the WWE Championship.

FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match
Kane (c) vs. Edge vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio

David S. – EDGE.

Josh B. – ALBERTO DEL RIO!

Anthony V. – I am very happy that Rey and Del Rio are in this main event, because I don’t think Edge and Kane could carry it. I think with Rey’s injury Del Rio will be the one to put Rey on the shelf. I don’t think Edge is going to win the title, so could the WWE give Del Rio the Gold? It would be awesome, but I think this match has two stories. Del Rio “wins” over Rey, but KANE retains his championship.

Tim M. – EDGE will win the TLC match and become World Heavyweight Champion.

Ken K. – EDGE.

Jose M. – EDGE. I still think the plan was for Edge to win so I am staying with him.

Matt O. – This is a tough one. I’m going with DEL RIO!

Jeff S. – ALBERTO DEL RIO.

Mike T. – ALBERTO DEL RIO.

Enzo M. – DEL RIO.

Ryan R. – EDGE.

Clinton B. – ALBERTO DEL RIO.

Nicholas G. – KANE.

CONSENSUS: ALBERTO DEL RIO 6; Edge 5; Kane 2; Rey Mysterio 0. No one here thought the “619” will capture the championship, as reports are stating that Rey has an injury. A couple members went with Kane, but in storyline he appears to have lost it more each week. Edge, the man who kidnapped Kane’s “father” Paul Bearer may have gotten in the head of Kane, and some of the staff as well as a handful chose Edge as the new champion. However in an upset, but not majority, Wrestleview’s columnists and staff predicts that it is time to put the belt on Alberto Del RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIOOOOOOOOO!
