Update on the actual Wrestlemania 27 attendance

Although the company publicly announced the attendance for Wrestlemania 27 in Atlanta, Georgia has being 71,617, the actual attendance was 61,617 tickets sold according to area concert business journals. The number could actually be a slightly higher when factoring in luxury boxes bringing it near the 65,000 total overall.

Although the show wasn’t a complete sellout, there were no tickets available weeks prior to the show. The gate was still very strong doing an estimated $6.2 million, a little lower than the $6.6 million figure released by WWE. It remains the second largest gate in U.S. pro wrestling history trailing only Wrestlemania 25 in Houston.

It would also make it the fifth largest crowd in WWE history. Also, claims by WWE that it drew the largest attendance for an “entertainment” show at The Georgia Dome were not factual as a Backstreet Boys concert drew a slightly higher attendance figure with 65,658. WWE will hold its quarterly investors conference call on May 5 and it is very possible they could be releasing buyrate information for Wrestlemania then. Very preliminary trending numbers had the show doing a strong buyrate.
