Predictions from the Faculty
WWE Hell in a Cell 2011 Edition
October 2, 2011
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #3). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for WWE Hell in a Cell, where every championship in the WWE will be defended. The show will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana which is home of the NFL’s Saints who were somewhat credited to improve the spirit of the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina a few years ago.

The card is currently booked to have five matches. There will be two non-title matches and three title matches at this time. Anything announced after press time does not count.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2012 Royal Rumble).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook or e-mail at mistervwv@hotmail.com. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will be three championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be three points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But what, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the FIRST time in our three seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2012). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

Welcome the New Member

With his official title as “ROH on Sinclair Recapper”, it is our privilege to welcome Jason Namako into the Wrestleview Faculty. He understands that he has to surrender his spot in the readers’ standings, but he participated in every PPV and is very close to the Dean’s Chair. “Wrestling Rumblings” columnist Jose Marrero still maintains the slightest of leads over WWE NXT recapper Grash Walek and ROH on HDNet recapper Ryan Rivera.

2011-2012 Predictions from the Faculty Roster (as of WWE’s Night of Champions)
1) Jose Marrero (Wrestling Rumblings/The Eye Gouge)……………71-43 (4-3)
2) Gregory “Grash” Walek (WWE NXT Recapper)……………………71-44 (4-3)
3) Ryan Rivera (ROH on HDNet Recapper)…………………………..70-45 (3-4)
4) Dave Stephens (Raw Recaps/That’s a Wrap/Teachers Lounge)…69-46 (3-4)
5) Jason Namako (ROH on Sinclair Recapper)……………………………….69-46 (3-4)
6) Mike Tedesco (WWE Smackdown Recapper)……………………..68-47 (5-2)
7) Wrestleview Students (The Readers of the article)………………66-49 (2-5)
8) Nicholas Gray (The Velvet Room)…………………………………..64-51 (1-6)
9) Anthony Valvo (From the Desk of Mr. V/Teacher’s Lounge)…..64-51 (3-4)
10) Evan O’Brien (WV International Desk)……………………………64-51 (4-3)
11) Greg McNeish (WV International Desk)…………………………….63-52 (2-5)
12) Darragh O’Connor (WV International Desk)……………………..61-43 (4-3)
13) Josh Boutwell (TNA Impact Recaps/Viva La Raza)………………61-48 (2-5)
14) Andrew Hayman (WWE Superstars Recapper)…………………..60-42 (4-3)
15) Matt O’Brien (Notes from the Nosebleeds)……………………….60-55 (2-5)

Tie-Breaker Points – Which are based on Championship matches correct

36: Gregory Walek
35: Mike Tedesco
34: Jose Marrero; Ryan Rivera
32: Dave Stephens; Jason Namako
31: Nicholas Gray
30: Anthony Valvo; Greg McNeish; Josh Boutwell
28: Evan O’Brien
27: Andrew Hayman
26: Darragh O’Connor
24: Matt O’Brien

The Students of the Week for Night of Champions will be Brandon Glover and Corey Nelson. Both men may have participated part-time in the standings, they earned the title by going 4-3 in the WWE Night of Champions.

The recent Student of the Week, Paul Smith, was defeated. Mr. Smith posted a 3-4 record for Night of Champions.

And of course, the WV Students average will be part of the standings. I have taken out the “Students of the Week” for this season. However, do not worry. Those that scored the highest will still be welcomed to participate in an upcoming article.

The Best of the Class (Top 3 earn a prize. Tie-Breaker Points in parentheses)

Prizes:

1st Place – A DVD Set of our choosing (max 3 disc set).
2nd Place – A T-Shirt
3rd Place – A Coffee Mug
Worst – TNA Victory Road 2009 (or 2011) DVD.

The Wrestleview Reader Leaderboard

I will just type out the top readers at this time. The first set of parentheses is the W/L record for WWE’s Night of Champions. The second parentheses are the Tie-Breaker points.

1) Jordan Benterman…………………………………………..71-44 (3-4) (34) – #1
2) Michael Fox……………………………………………………70-45 (2-5) (33) – #2
3) Paul Meade……………………………………………………..69-46 (2-5) (33) – #3
4) Jason Namako…………………………………………………69-46 (3-4) (32) ON STAFF; OUT
5) Paul Smith………………………………………………………..67-39 (3-4) (30)
6) Wade Bradford………………………………………………..67-48 (2-5) (31)

Once again, with his appointment to the Wrestleview Staff Jason Namako is ineligible for an award.

The person with the most picks incorrect is currently 61-54 with 32 tiebreaker points. Therefore, I deem that score the worst.

Also to those that have participated in all the previous PPVs, keep it up. Though there are only eight PPVs left you can still be a Student of the Week sometime this year.

And now, the moment you all have been waiting for…

Predictions for WWE’s Hell in a Cell 2011

*** NON-TITLE MATCHES ***

Singles Match
Stipulation: Winner keeps the “Sin Cara” name
Sin Cara I (Mistico) vs. Sin Cara II (Hunico)

Jose M. – MISTICO.

Gregory W. – SIN CARA. Yes, That Sin Cara. The Sin Cara over There.
The Real Sin Cara. What you mean you don’t know which Sin Cara I was
talking about. The Sin Cara with the Red and blue lights. The Sin Cara
with the trampoline entrance *grumble* Do I have to quote JR? I’m
picking Sin Cara, the Superstar formerly known as MISTICO.

Ryan R. – SIN CARA (HUNICO).

Dave S. – SIN CARA (MISTICO)

Jason N. – SIN CARA (HUNICO EDITION).

Mike T. – MISTICO CARA.

Nicholas G. – SIN MISTICO

Anthony V. – SIN CARA (MISTICO). I think the other Sin Cara has done a great job while the original was away due to suspension. I switched the pick from The Teacher’s Lounge taping due to the stipulation from Hunico to Mistico.

Evan O. – SIN CARA (KAYFABE (HUNICO) EDITION).

Greg M. – SIN CARA (MISTICO).

Darragh O. – SIN CARA (MISTCO).

Josh B. – SIN CARA I (MISTICO).

Andrew H. – SIN CARA (MISTICO).

Matt O. – SIN CARA (HUNICO).

Brandon G. – SIN CARA (MISTICO) defeats Sin Cara (Hunico) – This is going to be a fun one to call for the announce team…in the end, Sin Cara will win!

Corey N. – I think it has potential to be a show stealer, in the end I’m picking HUNICO to steal a victory!!

CONSENSUS: SIN CARA…MISTICO. The battle went on for weeks and the winner keeps the prestigious “Sin Cara” name. In a slightly over 2-to-1 ratio, the staff predicts that the original Sin Cara wins and keeps his name.

SIN CARA MISTICO 11; Sin Cara Hunico 5.

Singles Match
Sheamus vs. Christian

Jose M. – SHEAMUS.

Gregory W. – CHRISTIAN.

Ryan R. – SHEAMUS.

Dave S. – SHEAMUS.

Jason N. – SHEAMUS.

Mike T. – CHRISTIAN.

Nicholas G. – SHEAMUS.

Anthony V. – SHEAMUS. I think Sheamus is going to be next in line for the World Title. Christian should also tell a great story, but in defeat. This may be the match of the night, as both have good chemistry.

Evan O. – CHRISTIAN.

Greg M. – CHRISTIAN; Banking on this going to a rematch at Vengeance.

Darragh O. – CHRISTIAN.

Josh B. – SHEAMUS.

Andrew H. – CHRISTIAN.

Matt O. – CHRISTIAN.

Brandon G. – SHEAMUS defeats Christian.

Corey N. – SHEAMUS by DQ.

CONSENSUS: SHEAMUS. This pick was almost split, but we gave the slight edge to “The Great White” to escape victory over Christian, who despite losing his matches is still active on the main event level.

SHEAMUS 9; Christian 7.

*** CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES ***

Singles Match for the WWE Divas Championship
Kelly Kelly (c) vs. Beth Phoenix

Jose M. – BETH PHOENIX.

Gregory W. – KELLY KELLY.

Ryan R. – BETH PHOENIX.

Dave S. – BETH PHOENIX.

Jason N. – BETH PHOENIX.

Mike T. – BETH PHOENIX.

Nicholas G. – BETH.

Anthony V. – BETH PHOENIX. It’s just time. Kelly had the title all summer and it was a feel-good story. It’s just Beth’s turn with the championship now.

Evan O. – KELLY KELLY.

Greg M. – BETH PHOENIX; I don’t think they could draw this out any longer. It’s time to move the Butterfly over to the big girls.

Darragh O. – KELLY KELLY.

Josh B. – BETH.

Andrew H. – BETH.

Matt O. – BETH.

Brandon G. – BETH PHOENIX defeats Kelly Kelly to become Divas Champion.

Corey N. – I truly believe Beth Phoenix should have been champ already and for some reason, WWE seems to have other plans … KELLY KELLY RETAINS!!

CONSENSUS: BETH PHOENIX. The WWE have teased this title change all summer and on the past PPV we were almost certain there would be a new Divas Champ. However, Kelly has held that title for over one hundred days now and the belt needs fresh air. Hopefully most are correct, as we predict a new Divas Champion.

BETH PHOENIX 12; Kelly Kelly 4.

Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Mark Henry (c) vs. Randy Orton

Jose M. – MARK HENRY.

Gregory W. – RANDY ORTON.

Ryan R. – MARK HENRY.

Dave S. – MARK HENRY.

Jason N. – MARK HENRY.

Mike T. – MARK HENRY.

Nicholas G. – HENRY.

Anthony V. – MARK HENRY. I can’t believe that I am picking Mark Henry, but I feel that this match is booked for Henry to just near kill Orton. If Orton wins this match, I will be disappointed a bit with this storyline.

Evan O. – MARK HENRY.

Greg M. – MARK HENRY; Orton just got his hope spot in on Smackdown. That’s the tease, but this one’s definitely going to the World’s Strongest Champion.

Darragh O. – MARK HENRY.

Josh B. – HENRY.

Andrew H. – MARK HENRY.

Matt O. – HENRY.

Brandon G. – MARK HENRY defeats Randy Orton – I’m glad to see Henry getting his chance here, and I hope he holds on to that title for a long time!

Corey N. – MARK HENRY RETAINS!

CONSENSUS: MARK HENRY. This writer had a feeling that Mark Henry would be predicted as the consensus winner, but not this wide of a margin. Only Grash chose the challenger, while the rest of the staff thinks that Henry’s run still has some legs. In a Hell in a Cell, expect the champ to retain.

MARK HENRY 15; Randy Orton 1.

Triple Threat Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE World Championship
John Cena (c) vs. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio

Jose M. – ALBERTO DEL RIO.

Gregory W. – JOHN CENA.

Ryan R. – CENA.

Dave S. – CENA.

Jason N. – ALBERTO DEL RIO.

Mike T. – JOHN CENA.

Nicholas G. – CENA.

Anthony V. – CENA. I am not betting against Cena, as I felt that I picked against him all summer. Plus, the WWE Championship needs stability. I expect some run-ins during this contest.

Evan O. – JOHN CENA.

Greg M. – JOHN CENA; Time to give him a solid run, through the fall.

Darragh O. – CENA.

Josh B. – CENA.

Andrew H. – JOHN CENA.

Matt O. – CENA.

Brandon G. – JOHN CENA defeats CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio – There are too many scenarios that could play out during this match. I suspect Nash, Miz, and Truth will influence the outcome, but the safe pick here is Cena.

Corey N. – This match will be very interesting with all the rumors flying around of returns and interference. Normally Cena would be the safe bet, But i see a twist coming and I’m going to pick CM PUNK TO WALK OUT WITH THE GOLD!!

CONSENSUS: JOHN CENA. The Champ will retain! There were a few staff members that went a different route, but many predict a successful title defense because, well, there may have been quite a few changes the past couple months. Most of the staff predict some kind of stability with the WWE World Championship, and it stays with Cena.

JOHN CENA 13; Alberto Del Rio 2; CM Punk 1.
