I went to the Hell in a Cell PPV last night with my girlfriend. Here is my take on the show.
The dark match was Daniel Bryan vs JTG. Good solid match by both men with Daniel Bryan winning with the LeBell Lock.
Next the announcers came out. Huge reaction for Booker T and J.R. Major heat for Michael Cole. Then the show kicked off with an impressive pyro display.
Christian came out first with some good heat followed by his opponent Sheamus. The two had a good match that got the crowd into it with a few “Let’s go Sheamus” chants. Sheamus won with the Brogue Kick. Some good heat during the Mark Henry interview.
Then came Sin Cara vs Sin Cara. Neither got much of a reaction for their intro. Got the typical botch during a Sin Cara match when the good one didn’t go back far enough off the ropes to catch a dropkick by the bad one. The good one ended up winning in a fairly forgettable match.
Then came the Tag Team Title match. Kofi & Evan got a decent reaction. Vickie Guerrero got the most heat of the night. Crowd was into this match and really enjoyed the ending with AirBoom getting the win.
Then came the Hell in a Cell match for the World Heavyweight Title. Good heat for Mark Henry but a surprising number of people cheering for him. Randy Orton came out to a huge reaction. Good back and forth match that the crowd was really into. Mark Henry won with the World’s Strongest Slam. After the match Henry tried to break Orton’s ankle. Crowd was really into the beatdown that Orton gave to Henry afterwards and gave Orton a huge reaction after Henry ran away.
Then came Cody Rhodes speech. Rhodes had some heat on him until he pulled out the classic Intercontinental Title which the crowd loved. The crowd didn’t seem to know who Laurinaitis was until he said his name. Then came John Morrison for an impromptu Title match. Rhodes won with a rollup and the crowd didn’t seem to mind Rhodes winning actually.
Then came the Divas title match. Again the heel Beth Phoenix got a mixed reaction. Good reaction for Kelly Kelly. The two had a good match for the Divas with Beth Phoenix winning the belt to a mixed reaction.
Then came the 2nd Hell in a Cell match for the WWE Championship. Del Rio came out to some good heat. I was very close to his car when he came out and damn that thing looked nice. Then came CM Punk to a huge reaction. Then came the Champ John Cena to a mixed reaction. The 3 had a good back and forth match. Couple of loud “Let’s go Cena-Cena sucks” chants. Del Rio won the match after locking Cena out the cage and blasting Punk with a steel pipe. The crowd gave Del Rio a lot of heat after winning and really started to eat up Cena’s beatdown afterward before The Miz and R-Truth started with their own beatdown. Huge reaction for Triple H when he came out to try to regain control and again when he attacked both of them while they were handcuffed. And that’s how the show ended.
I honestly didn’t have a lot of expectations going into the show and I must say it was better than I thought it was gonna be. I give it a B-.
