Update on Randy Orton’s injury recovery

As stated publicy by Randy Orton on Twitter, his back injury involves a herniated disc between his L-4 and L-5 vertebrae on the left side of the back. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Orton had been bothered by the injury for at least two weeks before the angle was shot on Smackdown two weeks ago to take him off television. It is believed the first signs of the injury taking place was a result of the table spot he took on the 12/19 Raw in his match with Wade Barrett. Orton remains booked for the 1/16 Raw taping in Anaheim, CA next week along with the Royal Rumble on 1/29 in his hometown of St. Louis, MO. It was also revealed by Dave Meltzer this week that Orton might be the longest wrestler under contract with WWE as his current deal is estimated as not expiring until 2019.
