PPV Predictions: WWE Elimination Chamber 2012

Predictions from the Faculty
WWE Elimination Chamber PPV
February 19, 2012
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff

Introduction

Welcome to the Round #2 of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #4). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for Elimination Chamber. The show will be held at The Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI.

The card is currently booked to have four matches.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists, recappers, and radio hosts at Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2013 Royal Rumble).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. You can participate by contacting by any means under the “Dismissal” portion of this piece. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will be three championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be THREE points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But wait, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the SECOND time in our three seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2013). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

Predictions for WWE’s Elimination Chamber

*** NON-TITLE MATCHES ***

Ambulance Match
Kane vs. John Cena

Anthony V. – CENA. This is a no-brainer. You just flat-out can’t let Cena lose on the final PPV before Wrestlemania.

Josh B. – CENA.

Nick G. – CENAR.

Jason N. – JOHN CENA.

Darragh O. – JOHN CENA.

Evan O. – JOHN CENA.

Matt O. – JOHN CENA.

David S. – JOHN CENA.

Jose M. – JOHN CENA. I suppose Kane could win this match and Cena could win a rematch either the next night or in the weeks that follow but I would give Cena a win here on PPV to give him some steam for the Rock.

Mike T. – JOHN CENA.

Greg M. – JOHN CENA. Simply can’t see him taking this loss, heading into Wrestlemania.

Gregory W. – CENA.

James L. – CENA.

Damon C. – CENA wins.

Wade B. – This is an easy call. JOHN CENA wins.

CONSENSUS: CENA 15-0. Pretty much a no-brainer when it comes to this much. Everyone who picked Cena probably believes that this feud is close (or at) an end. With Cena battling The Rock in mere weeks, it is time to get him a win.

*** CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES ***

Singles Match for the WWE Divas’ Championship
Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Tamina Snuka

Anthony V. – PHEONIX. Tamina has improved tons and is a rare diva with a story. Phoenix has a better one at the moment, as we know who will make a return soon. Can we see Beth vs. Kharma in Miami?

Josh B. – BETH.

Nick G. – FREENIX so her ovaries can be nom nom’d by Kharma.

Jason N. – BETH PHEONIX.

Darragh O. – BETH PHEONIX.

Evan O. – BETH PHOENIX.

Matt O. – BETH PHOENIX.

David S. – BETH PHOENIX.

Jose M. – BETH PHOENIX to get her ready for what looks to be a no brainer program against Kharma for Wrestlemania.

Mike T. – BETH PHOENIX.

Greg M. – BETH PHOENIX. If they treat this like a spectacle, it could be good. If they try to be REEL WRASSLERS~ it’s going to f’n blow. Regardless, Beth’s got a date with Kharma.

Gregory W. – BETH PHOENIX.

James L. – BETH PHOENIX.

Damon C. – BETH should retain.

Wade B. – This pick is such a layup. BETH PHOENIX retains the title.

CONSENSUS: PHEONIX 15-0. Another unanimous score, this time for “The Glamazon”. Though Tamina received a push in recent weeks, she will be no match for Phoenix.

Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Champion: Daniel Bryan
Challengers: Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, The Big Show, The Great Khali, and Santino Marella

Anthony V. – BRYAN (official). With the names “Khali” and “Santino” on this card I have a feeling we could see (albeit a very small chance) of seeing a name be taken out in favor of Christian. The only challenger with a story to Bryan is Show, and Show won’t win. If I am right about Christian (he is my “unofficial” pick because of the Sheamus feud before the injury), pick “2-0-4” in the next Pennsylvania Lottery.

Josh B. – DANIEL.

Nick G. – DBRY~

Jason N. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Darragh O. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Evan O. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Matt O. – DANIEL BRYAN.

David S. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Jose M. – DANIEL BRYAN although I guess you could get rid of Santino and have a surprise entrant into the match like maybe Christian who could win the title.

Mike T. – WADE BARRETT.

Greg M. – WADE BARRETT. Wrestlemanai: England vs. Ireland. If Wade Barrett wins, Ireland returns to the British Crown. If Sheamus wins, the island unites as one republic. It’s like Star Wars, but Darth Vader has a rose on his jacket, and Luke is a ginger.

Gregory W. – DANIEL BRYAN.

James L. – DANIEL BRYAN.

Damon C. – THE VEGAN (BRYAN) retains.

Wade B. – If they’re building all this heat with Bryan, you might as well bring it into the title match at WM. DANIEL BRYAN retains the WHC.

CONSENSUS: DANIEL BRYAN is the projected winner with 13 votes (with Barrett as the predicted winner by 2 of the staff). With the Smackdown roster suffereing from the injury bug, this match may lack punch. However, in the end it appears that the champion will retain the title. Also, Mr. Marrero and Mr. V and maybe some are wondering “is Christian returning”?

Elimination Chamber for the WWE World Championship

Champion: CM Punk
Challengers: Dolph Ziggler, Chris Jericho, The Miz, R-Truth, and Kofi Kingston

Anthony V. – PUNK. Kingston is there to do a “Morrison spot”. Ziggler will steal the show, but will suffer the “Buffalo Bills from the 90s” curse. Truth and Miz, I feel, will be a mid-card ‘Mania match. It’s down to Jericho and Punk as the only realistic winners. Jericho is a rare top-talent that helps wrestlers get over. I’ll go Punk.

Josh B. – PUNK.

Nick G. – PUNK.

Jason N. – CHRIS JERICHO.

Darragh O. – CM PUNK.

Evan O. – CM PUNK.

Matt O. – CHRIS JERICHO

David S. – CM PUNK.

Jose M. – CHRIS JERICHO who needs a win if he is going to look like a credible main eventer at Wrestlemania.

Mike T. – CM PUNK.

Greg M. – CM PUNK. Not loving this match-up, that’s for sure. This has a pretty high possibility of sucktitude. We’re pretty clearly getting Punk/Jericho, so the question is who gets the belt. Both have their pros & cons, but to me, there’s more benefit to having Punk carry the title into Mania. Jericho’s return isn’t lighting the world on fire enough, at this point, to justify the move. Wouldn’t be surprised, though.

Gregory W. – JERICHO.

James L. – JERICHO.

Damon C. – JERICHO pulls the upset in the Chamber.

Wade B. – It makes much more sense to have Punk chasing the title all the way to WM than just having Punk dangle the title in front of Jericho for six weeks. CHRIS JERICHO wins the WWE title.

CONSENSUS: PUNK is the projected winner with 8 votes (but Chris Jericho has 7). This Chamber match will be a battle of who is “The Best in the World”. Jericho and Punk claim they are, while the others have no factor to this match. Look for either Punk or Jericho to win this match and possibly carry the story to Wrestlemania.
