Adam Carriker references Triple H’s quadricep injury

Chuck Carroll passed this along.

If you’ve ever wondered what goes through an NFL player’s mind immediately after suffering a severe injury this may shed a little light. In the case of Washington Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker his immediate thought was pro wrestling — specifically, WWE’s Triple H.

It’s fitting if you know the man. I laughed when he told me about it on our show 4th & Pain.

Carriker sustained a torn quadriceps tendon very early in the Redskins loss to the St. Louis Rams last Sunday and will need to undergo surgery to repair the damage.

“I’m laying there on the turf at the Edward Jones Dome and there’s one thing going through my mind and it’s the image of Triple H tearing his quad tendon off his knee in the ring,” Carriker told me on an upcoming episode of 4th & Pain.

“Why I’m thinking about that, I don’t know,” he said. “I think that’s because it’s exactly where I felt it in my leg.”

The WWE Superstar tore his left quadriceps muscle in 2001 while wrestling in a main event on Monday Night Raw. He also suffered a similar injury at a pay-per-view event in 2007.

4th & Pain is the only pro wrestling show to be hosted by an NFL player and a weight loss champion.

The show airs Sundays at 8 a.m. on 106.7 The Fan and can be heard online at 4thAndPain.com.
