Wrestlemania 28 most purchased wrestling PPV ever

Updated buyrate figures from WWE indicate that Wrestlemania 28 did end up as the single most purchased pro wrestling Pay Per View event in history. The updated numbers has the show doing 1,253,000 buys – beating out the prior record set by Wrestlemania 23 in 2007 with 1,250,000 buys. WWE’s claim of 1.3 million buys is technically accurate when rounding up. The breakdown for the show, headlined by The Rock vs. John Cena, was 733,000 domestic and 520,000 international. The international figure would be an all-time record for WWE. With the domestic price increased from $49.95 to $54.95 and with 34% of the orders in HD at $64.95, the price was much higher than in 2007.
