WWE.com looks back on the night that changed wrestling

WWE.com has a new article up, looking back on the night of January 4, 1999 where WWE Raw won its biggest battle in the Monday Night Wars over WCW Nitro.

This was the night of the infamous Fingerpoke of Doom on WCW Nitro involving Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan, while on WWE Raw in a taped show Mankind won the WWE Title from the Rock.

This was also the night where WCW announcer Tony Schiavone said the infamous line when giving WCW fans the news that Mankind was to win the WWE Title on Raw, “That’ll put a lot of butts in the seats.” Unfortunately for WCW, over a half million viewers then turned away from Nitro to watch Raw. WCW would never recover after this battle and would be bought by WWE a little over two years later. The article has comments from Mick Foley and Kevin Nash about that fateful night.
