Box office numbers for new WWE Studios movie “Oculus”

The brand-new WWE Studios movie “Oculus” debuted at third place this weekend, grossing $12 million after opening in 2,648 theaters. Oculus was only beaten at the box office by the movies “Captain America: Winter Soldier” and “Rio 2”, which came in 1st & 2nd place this weekend respectively. Captain America grossed $41 million and Rio 2 grossed $29 million. Oculus did, though, beat out another debuting movie, “Draft Day” which stars Kevin Costner. Draft Day only did $9 million this past weekend. Oculus is one of WWE’s rare movies that does not feature any WWE stars and was purchased by WWE for distribution after its debut at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival.
