WWE posts their Q1 2016 earnings

On Tuesday, WWE released their earnings report for the first quarter of 2016. Some highlights of the report include the following:

* Revenue increased 13 percent from Q1 2015, excluding the timing impact of Wrestlemania, which occurred in Q2 2015.

* The WWE Network had an average of 1.29 million paid subscribers in Q1 2016, a 39 percent increase from Q1 2015.

* WrestleMania 32 had records broken for WWE in attendance, ticket sales, viewership and social media activity.

* WrestleMania 32 broke WWE’s attendance record with 101,763 fans.

* WWE Network reached a record 1.82 million total subscribers on April 4, 2016.

* WrestleMania 32 generated more than 2.5 million mentions on Twitter in one day and over 250 million video views across WWE’s digital and social platforms during WrestleMania week.

* WWE touted the upcoming Total Bellas spin-off series on E! that will debut in Fall 2016, as well as season 6 of Total Divas.

* WWE’s Net Income was $13.9 million, up from $9.8 million in Q1 2015.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had the following comments on the earnings report:

“Our strong performance in the first quarter reflected the successful execution of our content strategy,” said WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon. “The sustained year-over-year growth of WWE Network, the global consumption of our video content across all platforms, and the recent record breaking attraction of WrestleMania demonstrate the increasing strength of our brands. We believe we can continue to leverage these strengths to drive long-term growth.”
