Talking Smack

WWE has posted video of the much talked about exchange between Smackdown Live GM Daniel Bryan and WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz from the end of last night’s 8/23 Talking Smack on the WWE Network.

The exchange started when Miz and Maryse crashed the Talking Smack set and Miz confronted Bryan about why he wasn’t on Smackdown Live last night. Bryan responded by saying that he doesn’t respect Miz and that in his opinion, Miz is the epitome of the “soft, WWE style” and “wrestles like a coward.” This set Miz off and he unleashed on Bryan, ripping on him for never returning to the ring and saying that the style he wrestles allows him to have been injury-free, where as the style Bryan wrestled forced him into retirement.

Bryan responded that he would still be wrestling if “they would let him” and Miz answered back by saying that Bryan should just quit then if he wants to wrestle so much and go back to wrestling in bingo halls, causing Bryan to storm off the set. Miz continued his diatribe on Bryan, proclaiming that he will make the Intercontinental Title the most relevant title on Smackdown Live, before storming off the set with Maryse to close off the show with host Renee Young in a state of shock.

  1. work or shoot, love the intensity of the Miz. Danielson has a point though, you see a slow but steady progression from the more protective style of the last years and the much more stiff and ‘realistic’ indy style pro wrestling you see on the CWC.

  2. I don’t know if it was a shoot or not, but Miz made some good points, also maybe i’m in the minority but I liked it back when Miz was Champ. I thought he was a great “cowardly heel” (sorry Miz) In the Jeff Jarrett mold.

  3. again it’s no work when have u ever seen Miz this fired up before CM Punk’s pipebomb wasn’t even a work and it was one of the best if not honest promos delivered

  4. Its a work… a very good one
WWE is doing quite a few good angles recently mixing reality with storylines to make people confused.

  5. But seriously, if you were a body builder, would you go in to the gym every day and lift more than you should just to impress the girls? You wouldn’t be able to work by the time you were 40, Miz wants to be around for as long as possible and make sure he is set for life. Bryan went for the bang Miz is burning slowly, I reckon this is a work, for a lot of reasons that are obvious if you know what to listen for, also the fact the office has the belt on the Miz and I am sure Bryan could have suggested he drop it on the first broadcast in July. If it turns out to be a shoot, well I think it is unprofessional of Bryan if so. Also WWE is currently evolving again and I think the era of ‘Wow, was that a shoot or a work?’ Is upon us.

  6. so miz talks smack to db on a show called “talking smack” and the host says ” stop guys this is not what this show is about ” i loled

  7. Normally if someone spoke to their GM at work that way I’m pretty sure this shit would’ve gone down a lil bit differently

  8. Some of the best “work” angles have a some element of “shoot” in them. Segment was produced really well until the last 30 sec. The Miz is great on the mike unless he is too emotional,. That is where his disconnect comes in. Instead of the last emotional outburst he should have stormed out and followed Bryan. Lots of angles would then insue. Could even see a “match”(not sure of what else to call it) for the GM between the two. Could also see Miz being stripped of the title and going to Raw. Mostly nice work between the two. Daniel is improving as being a non wrestling character. Would have been interesting to see Maryse get involved as well, would have helped sell the “weak” angle.
