Triple H shoots down rumors regarding NXT TakeOver, Shawn Michaels and the WWE Performance Center

WWE COO Paul “Triple H” Levesque took part in a media conference call on Friday afternoon to promote the upcoming NXT TakeOver: Toronto special on November 19.

During the call, Triple H shot down a rumor that Mickie James wasn’t the first choice to face Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship in Toronto. Triple H said James wasn’t a “consolation prize” and seemed to be addressing rumors that the company had actually wanted Trish Stratus in the role before she had announced her latest pregnancy.

Triple H also addressed a rumor that Shawn Michaels was now the new head trainer of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. While he did confirm that Michaels will have a role at the facility, Matt Bloom remains the head trainer and put over the “fantastic job” he has been doing since replacing Bill DeMott in March of 2015.

Also addressed during the call was the possibility of NXT airing live (Triple H said they were open to the idea if the demand warranted it), the new “205 Live” show coming to the WWE  Network featuring the Cruiserweight division, describing the recent WWE Draft as a “rebuilding phase” for the company and that he has been proud of the amount of talent first built up in NXT that end up going on to the main roster in WWE.
