Title match and tournament on Smackdown Live
During last night’s Smackdown Live in Chicago, a title match was setup for next week’s show along with a tournament involving a now vacant championship.
Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin def. The New Day and Rusev and Aiden English in a triple threat match to earn a shot at The Usos and the Smackdown Tag Team Championships on next week’s show from Orlando.
Bobby Roode and Jinder Mahal also won matches as part of the first round of a tournament to crown a new WWE United States Champion. This is a result of previous champion Dolph Ziggler laying down the title last week and appearing to walk out of WWE.
Daniel Bryan addressed the tournament during a segment last night.
