Booker T

During an episode of his “Heated Conversations” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T took aim at WWE commentator Corey Graves and said Graves is the reason he is no longer party of the Monday Night RAW commentary team.

WWE announced the re-hiring of Jonathan “The Coach” Coachman last Monday night, which saw Coachman officially replace Booker T as part of the RAW commentary team.

Here is an excerpt of Booker’s comments about Graves courtesy of PWInsider.com.

We should note – whether Booker was being super or not remains to be seen.

“People ask me about Corey Graves. Corey Graves is good at what he does, you know? Corey Graves, he’s thrown jabs at me, I’ve thrown jabs back, you know? And you know, the thing is Corey Graves, of course, yeah, he’s a college educated young man. His vernacular is a little different than mine.

But I tell you, if I got Corey Graves into a fisticuffs, I would beat him down like he stole something. I would be whooping his ass all day long. Because that’s the thing – my thing is this. I’m a nice guy, until you get on my bad side. Corey Graves, right now, I wouldn’t necessarily say he’s on my bad side, but he’s the reason that I’m not on Monday Night Raw right now. Because, you know what, a lot of people in the company thought I was gonna jump on him, I was gonna do something bad to him, I was gonna drag him, I was gonna take him out to the woodshed, I was gonna beat that man so bad, I was gonna beat him until this man say, ‘Please, please, please, just don’t beat me any more.’

That’s how hot I was getting. That’s how close I was getting. So, they said, ‘Hey, Book. We’re gonna take – step back a second, alright? We’re gonna regroup, alright, we’re gonna press the rewind button. We’re gonna send you back to the Kickoff show of SmackDown, Monday Night Raw pay-per-views and cool you down for a second. Cause we don’t want you to do anything to Corey Graves, because we know what you could do to him. We know Corey Graves could do… he’s sitting there for a reason, man. He’s sitting there for a reason, and Corey Graves knows it.

You know what? I’ll tell you this here. I want all you people out there to know, you heard it right here Heated Conversations, Sports Radio 610, it’s probably gonna make all the dirt sheets like Meltzer and all those guys. But if I catch Corey Graves on the street, I’m gonna do something to him. Alright? I ain’t gonna do it at the office or anything like that. But if I catch him… not gonna do it in the airport, nah, I’m not gonna do that. But if I catch Corey Graves on the street? You see that little bouffant hairdo he got? I’m gonna rearrange it for him. Alright? I’m just saying. I’m just saying… Let me catch him at Starbucks. I’m a tattoo him…

He’s one of those guys gonna have to walk it like he talk it… Me personally, everybody knows my reputation… I get mean, when you mess with my green. And right now, my green is being messed with, you know what I mean? So, me and Corey Graves… WrestleMania coming up, right? There’s room for one more match. Right now, on my show, Heated Conversations, Sports Radio 610, I’m calling Corey Graves out to a fight. Not a match. Not a pre-show posedown or anything like that. I’m calling Corey Graves out to a fight.”

Corey Graves appeared to respond to the comments on Twitter earlier today.

  1. sounds like booker t could stand the corey graves zingers an one liners in commentary.hey booker-as the heel commentator graves is supposed to be that way.anyone remember lawler on commentary an his one liners an zingers? yeah-hey book-get the hell over it..

  2. What the hell did Corey ever say/do to Booker? Like James below said, Lawler and JR, Ventura and Vince, one is heel and the other is face commentator, it’s Corey’s job

  3. I don’t know how to react to this, on one hand usually commentary has a heel and a face and I get the jabbing part for entertainment. Then I look it at it like this, I think Booker T isn’t realizing that his job is part of an escape from what is really going on in this world today with all this racism (I NEVER SAID Graves did neither one of them make a racist comment to on another) and all this hatred going on in the world; I understand that if that is the way Booker T looks at it. Maybe I am not making myself clear but isn’t WWE suppose to entertain us and let us escape from the real world? I like how WWE is a sardonic comedy.

  4. So Booker says Graves is the reason he’s off commentary, but reading his comments I’d have to say that Booker is the reason that Booker is off commentary and frankly if Booker’s telling the truth then I’d say it’s frankly the right call.

  5. I’m watching all the old ppvs on the network & to be honest, commentary is far better without Booker T. He rambles a lot & it’s very hard to follow him sometimes, a lot of the time he doesn’t even make sense. That’s just my opinion but I don’t think taking him off commentary has done any harm to the product.

  6. Here’s the thing .Booker is a legend and deservedly a HOFer. However his commentating was just downright awful. He’s never consistent and just blabs out nonsense. Corey and Cole just pointed them on several occasions. He sucked at his job and is lucky he didn’t get canned for being an airhead

  7. *facedesk* Booker, no one is questioning how tough you are or how good you are in the ring or ANYTHING like that. But here’s the fact: You SUCK as a commentator. You do. And you have no one else to blame for that but yourself. End of story.

  8. OMG! Fucking, LittleKuriboh replied to Corey’s tweet. He said, and I quote, “Is this about Booker T? Are you quoting Sun Tzu in reference to Booker T? Because I’m pretty sure Booker thinks The Art of War is a coloring book.”

Can someone do me a favour and photoshop Booker T with crayons trying to colour the inside of The Art Of War? PLEASE? XD

  9. I hope Jeremy Borash replaces Coachman. Never thought I’d say this; but Michael Cole is the lone bright spot on RAW commentary. Coach and Graves are beyond annoying.
