"Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event..." The WWE video leads us into the show.
A video recaps Kane taking out everyone involved in the Fatal Four Way main event last week, including giving the Big Show a Chokeslam. Kane has been on a witch hunt in recent weeks since Undertaker was found in a vegetative state over the Memorial Day weekend.
The Smackdown video plays and we're brought into the arena with some pyro. It's interesting that Matt Hardy, who is suspended from all WWE programming, is still in the video. Tonight's main event will see Rey Mysterio and Big Show team up to take on Jack Swagger and CM Punk. We'll also see Drew McIntyre take on Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long. If Long chooses not to compete then he'll be fired.
CM Punk's music hits and he makes his way to the ring without the S.E.S. Punk says he'll win his fourth World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday, making him a four-time Straight Edge World Heavyweight Champion, something no one else has accomplished in WWE history. The only thing that would make that sweeter was if the Undertaker was here to see it. Punk says a lot of the crowd probably flunked out of high school so it's been a while since we've had a history lesson. Hey, I'm a history major! Punk says he's the only man in the history of WWE to make the Undertaker tap out (Kurt Angle?). If it weren't for the Undertaker's vegetative state then he'd have made him tap at Fatal Four Way.
The reason he's out here is to talk about Undertaker's vegetative state. A lot of the crowd knows about it because they're in one. Punk says neither he nor anyone in the S.E.S. is responsible for him being in a vegetative state. Punk says he thinks it's hilarious and wishes he could have been the one to do it. Punk says when the perpetrator(s) come to light then he'll be the first one to shake their hand. Punk says this WWE Universe has been so much better without the Undertaker.
All of a sudden the lights go out. The crowd gets happy and Undertaker is standing in the middle of the ring when they come back on. Punk cowers in the corner before approaching slowly and tapping him. Punk then turns him around and it's revealed that it's Luke Gallows. Gallows takes off the wig and the trench coat. They laugh heartily as Punk puts the hat on and does Undertaker's salute. Matt Striker says he looks like a rabbi. Punk then stomps on the hat.
All of a sudden Kane's pyro goes off and an angry big red machine makes his way to the ring. Before he gets there Jack Swagger attacks him from behind. Swagger and the S.E.S. triple team Kane outside the ring. The masked S.E.S. member also joins the melee. Gallows hits him with a big splash and Swagger hits his Vader Bomb. Swagger hits a second and then a third one. Finally Rey Mysterio and Big Show run down to clear the ring. They don't even have to break a sweat as everyone scatters before being touched.
Kane slowly gets up near the ropes and Mysterio hits him with a 619! Big Show then drops Kane with a Chokeslam! It's all part of the payback for last week. Mysterio slowly backs out of the ring as Big Show looks at him angrily. Big Show then kneels by Kane and says, for the last time, that he had nothing to do with what happened to the Undertaker. Nothing will stop him from becoming the next World Heavyweight Champion.
A Drew McIntyre highlight video plays. How many could there possibly be? It's from September 25, 2009 when Vince McMahon proclaimed him to be a future World Heavyweight Champion. Drew McIntyre will take on Teddy Long later tonight.MVP & Christian vs. Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer
Before the match began we see footage of how Hawkins and Archer have attacked MVP and Christian from behind over the past few weeks.
Christian will start off against Hawkins. Hawkins slaps Christian but Christian slaps harder. Christian takes him down and works the arm before tagging in MVP. MVP knees him in the ribs and hits a body slam. MVP drops a knee for a one count. Hawkins hits an emergency jawbreaker and shoves him to his corner. MVP fights them off and hits Hawkins with a face buster. MVP big boots Archer off the apron and back body drops Hawkins over the top rope! MVP and Christian then hit stereo planchas! They get back in the ring but the referee is distracted as Archer sends MVP head first into the steel steps.
We come back from the break to see MVP fights up from a submission and whip Hawkins off. Hawkins quickly takes him down with a back elbow for a near fall. Archer is tagged in and Hawkins sweeps MVP's feet. Archer then stomps him. Wow... threatening... Archer chokes him on the ropes. Fire him right now! Archer hits an arm breaker and covers for a one count. Archer works on the injured arm and stands on it. Archer misses a leg drop but MVP can't make a tag. Archer knocks Christian off the apron and tags in Hawkins. Hawkins locks on an arm lock but MVP gets out with a jawbreaker.
Christian is tagged in and he fires at Hawkins with some right hands. Christian sends him into the ropes and makes him eat a dropkick. Christian counters a body slam with a reverse DDT. Christian knocks Archer off the apron and sends Hawkins into the corner. Christian hits a cross-body block for a near fall broken up by Archer. MVP takes him out and Hawkins sends MVP shoulder first into the ring post. Christian goes for the Kill Switch but Vance Archer hits his Bull's Eye and Hawkins drops the elbow from the top and gets the win.Winners by Pinfall: Curt Hawkins & Vance Archer
Match Rating: * 3/4
MVP tries to get some retribution but gets taken out the same way Christian did. Hawkins dropped a particularly stiff elbow on MVP here. You could hear the air leave his lungs.
Lay-Cool are talking while Kaval holds their titles. They talk, Rosa Mendes walks, gets denied a spot in Lay-Cool, she cries after they make fun of her, and they laugh. The end! Have I mentioned lately just how bad the Diva's division is anymore?
Big Show and Rey Mysterio will take on Jack Swagger and CM Punk later tonight.
Another Drew McIntyre video plays where Teddy Long was forced to expunge Drew McIntyre's first loss to Kane.
Vickie Guerrero is backstage with Chavo. Vickie ignores him and marvels over Dolph Ziggler who is wearing skimpy jean shorts, provided by Vickie. Vickie tells Chavo to get ready for his match, which is news to him. Ziggler wonders why he's wearing a tool belt and the reason is Vickie wants him to hang a picture of them up. Vickie stares at his backside as Chris Masters walks in. Chris Masters simply walks away.
The announcers discuss the Fatal Four Way Main Event. They then show the video when Long fired Drew McIntyre only for him to be reinstated a week later.
JTG makes his way to the ring. The guy with no direction whatsoever will be in action next. Maybe they should take this spot and use toward something useful like, oh, I don't know, booking an emergency angle so Fatal Four Way has more than four matches?
-Commercial Break-JTG vs. Chavo Guerrero
Chavo barely has any of his gear on. The Goose calls for the bell and Chavo quickly takes JTG down. JTG fights back and hits a few moves. Chavo comes back with a rolling Liger kick before choking him on the ropes. He should be fired. This is boring me. William Regal said it best a few years ago, albeit during a singing contest (WWE Idol). This is Roe vs. Wade: an abortion. Hey, blame William Regal. JTG wins with the Shout Out. What was the point of this other than to fill time?Winner by Pinfall: JTG
Match Rating: No stars
Josh Mathews is backstage with Kofi Kingston. Josh asks if he thinks the deck will be stacked against him this Sunday considering McIntyre's relationship with Mr. McMahon. Kingston isn't worried about that. He's worried about Teddy Long fighting tonight. The only good thing happening is him retaining this Sunday.
Another Drew McIntyre video plays. Kofi Kingston won the IC Title in an amazing match only to be stripped of it by Mr. McMahon via letter. Teddy Long takes on Drew McIntyre next.
The final Drew McIntyre video is him announcing to Long that they'll have a match. Well it's right now.
Drew McIntyre makes his way to the ring. Teddy Long's music hits and but he's nowhere to be found. McIntyre reminds him that he'll lose his job if he doesn't come out right now. The music hits again and Teddy Long makes his way to the ring like he's walking the green mile. McIntyre says he doesn't care that he's in a suit. He'll still tear him apart. However before he does, to ensure no shenanigans from Kofi Kingston or Matt Hardy, he's enlisted his own private security force. A bunch of guys in the standard security black shirts make their way down the ramp.
McIntyre forces Charles Robinson to make sure Long doesn't have any foreign objects. McIntyre taunts him to hit him but Long doesn't want to. McIntyre berates him about having nothing but the wrestling industry. McIntyre claims Long will be nothing without it and will have no money. The only way he might get out of this is by doing exactly what he tells him to do. McIntyre forces him to get on his knees and proclaim him the chosen one. Reluctantly Long does it. Long stands and McIntyre reminds him that he didn't tell him to do that. McIntyre makes him get on his knees. McIntyre then orders him to lay in the middle of the in and get pinned. McIntyre calls him pathetic.Drew McIntyre vs. Teddy Long
The bell rings and McIntyre puts his foot on Long's chest. Charles Robinson is quickly over to make the count.Winner by Pinfall: Drew McIntyre
Match Rating: n/a
Long gets up to leave the ring, crying nonetheless, when McIntyre grabs him. McIntyre sets him up for the Future Shock but Kofi Kingston's music hits. Kingston runs out for the save but the security team grabs him. McIntyre takes some free shots on Kingston until Matt Hardy comes through the crowd and attacks him. The security separates them and McIntyre, again, takes some free shots on Hardy. McIntyre puts him in the ring and delivers the Future Shock. Kingston fights his way into the ring and also gets a Future Shock.
Big Show and Rey Mysterio will take on Jack Swagger and CM Punk later tonight.
-Commercial Break-Layla vs. Kelly Kelly
They lock up and Layla gets a side headlock. Layla hits a shoulder block, goes into the ropes, and gets a roll up for a two count. Kelly flips to reverse the pressure on an arm bar and gets a Thesz Press. Kelly then kicks Layla out of the ring. Layla snaps Kelly off the ropes and gets a near fall for that. Layla grapevines the neck but Kelly quickly gets out. Kelly gets a jackknife pin for a two count. Kelly hits some clotheslines and sends her to the corner. Kelly misses a handspring back elbow but quickly gets the better of Layla. Kelly knocks McCool off the apron and Tiffany comes to make sure she stays down. Kelly hits the K2 and pins Layla.Winner by Pinfall: Kelly Kelly
Match Rating: 1/2 *
Josh Mathews is backstage with Jack Swagger. Swagger says this reminds him of when he was four when he was about to win one of his many championships. His dad came up to him and said he needs to reach for the stars and be unforgettable. Swagger says he won four gold medals that day because he's a winner. It's fitting that Sunday is Father's Day. Swagger dedicates his victory at Fatal Four Way to his dad. In time his three competitors' names will be forgotten. However he'll be remembered forever.
The Smack of the Night is Christian beating Dolph Ziggler last week. Ziggler then put Christian to sleep after the match.
EXCUSE ME! Vickie Guerrero comes out to the stage in personally introduce Dolph Ziggler to the crowd.Dolph Ziggler vs. Chris Masters
Is the final result of this match doubted by anyone? The Goose rings the bell and Ziggler avoids Masters. Ziggler then runs into a shoulder block. Ziggler quickly outsmarts Masters by snapping him off the top rope. Ziggler wildly punches him and applies an arm bar. Masters gets out with a snapmare and catapults Ziggler into the corner. Masters hits an inverted atomic drop and some shoulder blocks. Masters hits a nice clothesline and signals for the Masterlock. Ziggler avoids it but can't avoid a sidewalk slam for a near fall. Masters goes for a running powerslam but Ziggler counters with his Sleeper Hold. Masters begins to fade away but he breaks out and gets his Masterlock on! Ziggler quickly gets his feet on the ropes. Ziggler kicks the knee and hits the Zig-Zag for the win.Winner by Pinfall: Dolph Ziggler
Match Rating: 3/4 *
Vickie Guerrero comes in the ring and raises Ziggler's hand.
Our main event is coming up next.
The Raw Rebound plays.
The announcers run down the Fatal Four Way card. It's not long. They only promote three matches.
Rey Mysterio makes his way to the ring. He'll team with Big Show to take on Jack Swagger and CM Punk next.
-Commercial Break-Rey Mysterio & Big Show vs. CM Punk & Jack Swagger
Charles Robinson, my favorite referee, is the official. Mysterio and Punk will start the match out. Punk tags Swagger in before anything happens. They circle the ring and lock up. Swagger powers him to the corner but Mysterio quickly hits some kicks to get out. They lock up again and Swagger powers him to the corner. Punk tags in and shoulders Mysterio in the corner. Punk hits a snapmare and drops an elbow for a one count. Punk sends him to the ropes but Mysterio slides through the legs, hits a snapmare, and drops a leg for a one count. Mysterio punches Punk around before Punk comes back. Punk goes for a sunset flip but Mysterio rolls through. Punk covers up for the incoming kick but Mysterio doesn't deliver it. Mysterio instead goes for the mask. Punk quickly rolls out of the ring and Mysterio follows only to take a clothesline for Luke Gallows!
We come back from the break to see Mysterio trapped in a camel clutch. Punk tries to remove Mysterio's mask so Mysterio fights. Mysterio charges into a powerslam for a near fall. Swagger is tagged in and he stomps Mysterio a few times. Swagger puts him in the corner and throws him out with a hip toss. Swagger hits a Vader Bomb for a near fall. Swagger applies a seated abdominal stretch. Eventually Mysterio fights up. Swagger sends him to the ropes and goes for a flapjack but Mysterio counters into a sit-out face buster.
Big Show is tagged in and he hits some clotheslines on Swagger. Big Show butt splashes him in the corner and hits a shoulder block. Big Show big boots Punk off the apron and goes for a Chokeslam but Swagger counters with a DDT. Mysterio tags back in and misses a top rope cross-body block. Swagger goes for the Gutwrench Powerbomb but Mysterio counters and gets the win!Winners by Pinfall: Rey Mysterio & Big Show
Match Rating: * 1/2
Kane's pyro hits and an even angrier big red machine comes out. Gallows gets dropped and Kane enters the ring to Chokeslam Jack Swagger. Kane knocks Big Show off the apron and Chokeslams CM Punk. Kane then sets his sights on Mysterio and hits the Tombstone Piledriver. Kane says one of them is already in hell and doesn't even know it. This Sunday will be a FATAL night for the guilty party. Kane makes the ring posts explode. A casket is wheeled out and Kane does Undertaker's salute to it to end the show.

This was a go home show to a PPV? That's just sad but then again when you have a PPV where only three matches bare promotion on TV then you're asking for trouble. As a result half of this show wasn't even worth watching. You have your segments at the beginning, middle, and end of the show that you can watch but all the filler in between made no difference on anything. It was all a waste of time. Even Dolph Ziggler isn't getting a PPV match. I'd have loved to have seen Christian take on Dolph Ziggler on the PPV. I don't know what WWE has planned but if you have a ticket to Fatal Four Way then I'd seriously consider selling it just based on how lackadaisical the build has been.
Finally Drew McIntyre got some type of heat. Unfortunately it was at the expense of Teddy Long, Smackdown's authority figure who is treated like a joke week in and week out. Still, heat is heat and McIntyre finally got some legitimately. This is probably the best angle Matt Hardy has been involved in since he turned heel on Jeff Hardy last year.
There's really no doubt anymore about who will be revealed to have taken Undertaker out. I'd still love for WWE to throw us a curveball and have it not be Kane but we all know it is. Kane has been superb these past few weeks with this angle and hopefully it'll continue after Sunday.Final Rating: **
