“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

A video kicks off the show recapping the events from this past Monday’s RAW. Seth Rollins faced John Cena in the main event of the show. Cena had Rollins beat until Kane and Randy Orton ran down to help. Roman Reigns made the save. Rollins tried to cash in his contract on Cena during the confusion, but Dean Ambrose ran down to stop his attempt. Cena then hit Orton with the Attitude Adjustment, and Reigns took Kane out with a Spear. Cena and Reigns then took turns raising one another’s hands.

The Smackdown video plays, and we’re brought into the arena. Michael Cole and JBL welcome us to the show.

Rusev makes his way to the ring waving the flag of the Russian Federation with Lana.  Lana says just like the impotent leaders of America and Canada, Roman Reigns is all style and no substance.  Tonight, his inferiority will be exposed.  Everyone is unworthy to be in the same arena as Rusev, just like all of them are unworthy to exist in the same era as the great and true peacekeeper, Vladimir Putin.  Putin’s image appears on the titantron.  Tonight, Rusev will crush Reigns.

Roman Reigns’ music hits, and he makes his way to the ring through the crowd. Reigns gets in the ring, and the crowd chants his name. Reigns says he’s sure Rusev and Lana would love to stare at him all night and listen to them cheer him, but he’s a businessman and doesn’t have a lot of time. He’ll get straight to the point. Rusev thinks it’s his ring, but it’s not. It’s his ring. Rusev thinks he can crush and beat him, but he better think again. Reigns sees Rusev getting anxious, but he’s got a hair trigger. If Rusev makes one false move, he’ll put his fist across his face.

Lana says this is typical crass behavior from American swine. Lana says, “You should be careful what you wish for, Mr. Reigns.” Reigns can’t believe she’s telling him to be careful. Lana must not know how this goes down. He assesses and attacks. He’s assessed this situation, and the only thing they’re missing is a referee. If they get one down here right now, as soon as he rings the bell, he’s going to attack and put him on his Putin-kissing ass. Rusev takes off his medal and yells some words at him. Charles Robinson runs down to keep them away from one another. Lana says they won’t do this match on Reigns’ terms. Lana then orders Rusev to back out of the ring.

Chris Jericho will face Randy Orton later tonight. AJ Lee is seen skipping backstage. She’ll be in action, next.

-Commercial Break-

Cameron is seen out in the ring checking herself out in a compact mirror.

Cameron vs. AJ Lee

A replay is shown from two weeks ago when AJ Lee made her return to Monday Night RAW and goaded Paige into a match for the WWE Divas Championship. AJ then rolled her up and won the title in a short match. It is then announced that AJ Lee will defend her WWE Divas Championship against Paige at WWE Battleground.

The bell rings, and Cameron asks the referee to tell AJ to wait while she applies some lip-gloss. Cameron then blindsides AJ and takes her down. Cameron punches her for a one count. Cameron bounces her head off the mat a few times before talking a little trash. Cameron goes to apply some makeup to AJ before choking her on the ropes. JBL questions whether the makeup is a foreign object. Cameron under-hooks her arms and does a bridge for a chicken-wing. Cameron under-hooks the arms again and goes for a submission, but AJ fights up and gets a cradle for a two count. Cameron quickly dropkicks her for a two count.

Cameron pushes her in the face a few times, but AJ smiles back at her. AJ blocks a slap and takes her down by the hair. AJ sends her into the corner and hits a corner clothesline. AJ connects with a neckbreaker before taking her by the hair and skipping around. AJ sends her into the ropes and hits a crescent kick for a near fall. Cameron pushes her away and tells her not to touch her hair. Cameron leaves the ring and heads to the back, but Naomi runs down and throws her back into the ring in full view of the referee. Cameron yells at Naomi before AJ rolls her up. Cameron rolls right through, and AJ connects with the Shining Wizard for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: AJ Lee
Match Rating: 1/2 *

Naomi claps for AJ before pointing at Cameron. Cameron holds her jaw and stares menacingly back at Naomi.

Renee Young is backstage with Randy Orton. Renee asks for a reaction to Kane saying he’s starting to hate Orton on RAW. Orton says he doesn’t care about what Kane has to say. What he does care about is if Kane does what’s best for business. What’s best for business is that he walks out of WWE Battleground with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship around his waist. There’s nothing John Cena or Roman Reigns can say or do about it. As far as tonight with Chris Jericho, he’s an old opponent of his. Jericho has done everything there is to do in the WWE. Some even say he’s a legend. Well, with that being said, the only thing left for him to do is introduce Jericho to the Legend Killer.

Roman Reigns will face Rusev in the main event of the evening for the first time ever.

-Commercial Break-

Fandango w/ Layla vs. Adam Rose w/ Summer Rae

The bell rings, and Adam Rose tosses his lollipop aside. The crowd is singing Rose’s theme song as they lock up. Rose applies a side headlock, but Fandango whips him off. Fandango leaves the ring to break it up. One of them accidentally punches Fandango in the face. Fandango continues to try to separate them all while the referee was counting him out. The referee reaches ten, and this match is over.

Winner by Count-Out: Adam Rose
Match Rating: 1/4 *

Fandango argues with the referee over the ruling. Fandango goes to attack Rose, but Rose counters and hits Party Foul. Rose then dances away with the Rosebuds and Summer Rae.

A replay is shown of Chris Jericho’s confrontation with Bray Wyatt on this past Monday’s RAW following a match with The Miz. Jericho went to beat Wyatt up, but Erick Rowan and Luke Harper appeared by his side.

Renee Young is backstage with Chris Jericho. Renee mentions that he will be facing Randy Orton tonight, but she wants to know what he thinks about facing Bray Wyatt at the WWE Battleground PPV. Jericho says they will face for the first time ever in WWE. Jericho says this has the potential to be a classic. They are two unique individuals from opposite sides of the spectrum. He is a six-time World Champion. Wyatt is a manipulative big, black, dark spider that is spinning his web and suffocating everything in his way. On RAW, Wyatt said to him, “Save us, Y2J,” but he can’t save him. Wyatt is too far-gone, and he can see it in his eyes. Wyatt is unlike anyone he’s ever face before. Wyatt also said to him, “Action, not words.” Tonight, he will take action against Randy Orton, one of his favorite and toughest opponents. Orton is one of the greatest performers in the business today. He’s a legend killer, multi-time World Champion, and The Viper. Maybe it’s time for him to crush the head of the serpent tonight. As for the spider, when he sees one, he likes to squash it. Jericho says, “Wyatt, I’ll see you at Battleground. I’m coming.”

The Usos are seen walking backstage. They’ll be in action, next.

-Commercial Break-

Summer Rae will face Layla later tonight with Fandango as the guest referee.

Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil vs. Jimmy and Jey Uso

Jimmy and Jey Uso will take on Erick Rowan and Luke Harper in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match for the WWE Tag Team Championships at WWE Battleground.

JBL calls Slater and O’Neil, “Slater and The Gator.” Jimmy Uso will start the match against Titus O’Neil. Jimmy goes to knock Slater off the apron before he can grab him, and O’Neil attacks him from behind. O’Neil clubs him down before hitting a short-arm clothesline. O’Neil taunts the crowd before tagging in Slater. Slater stomps him before punching away at him. Jimmy punches back at him before chopping the chest. Slater pushes him into the ropes and hits a crescent kick for a two count. Slater applies a chin lock, but Jimmy fights up. Slater quickly punches and clubs him down. Slater goes into the ropes, and Jimmy catches him with a Samoan Drop. O’Neil breaks up the pinfall. Jey quickly runs in and superkicks him down. Slater quickly pushes Jey out of the ring before going to the second rope. Slater jumps into a superkick from Jimmy. Jey is tagged in, and he hits a Superfly Splash (they seem to be calling it the Samoan Splash) for the win.

Winners by Pinfall: Jimmy and Jey Uso
Match Rating: *

Byron Saxton comes into the ring to interview The Usos. Saxton mentions that they will face Harper and Rowan at WWE Battleground in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match. Jimmy says he loves the rivalry with them. They’ve never been in a match like that before, but he has a feeling the falls will go something like this. Jey Uso then does a play-by-play of a mock match at WWE Battleground while Jimmy pantomimed the action. It ends with a Samoan Splash and them leaving still the champions.

Roman Reigns will face Rusev later tonight. Coming up next, we’ll see Chris Jericho take on Randy Orton.

Orton punches him before climbing the ropes and attempting a superplex. Jericho head-butts him off the ropes before hitting a cross-body block for a near fall.

Jericho chops the chest before Orton counters with his trademark backbreaker. Orton goes for a hanging DDT, but Jericho gets out and applies the Walls of Jericho. Orton quickly crawls to the bottom rope to break the hold. Jericho charges him, but Orton pulls the top rope down. Jericho quickly gets on the apron, and Orton catches him with a hanging DDT. Orton then slowly walks around the ring before dropping down in position for an RKO. Jericho counters out of the RKO and connects with a Lionsault. Axel calls Stardust a “freak” before sending Goldust into the ropes for a dropkick. Goldust rolls out of the ring in front of Ryback. Stardust comes over and sits on the commentary table.
