AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT Ratings: AEW viewership up big, Full 2020 averages breakdown

AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT ratings for December 30, 2020 are now in. Ratings were delayed due to the holidays over the past week.

AEW Dynamite, going head-to-head against WWE NXT and featuring a tribute show to Jon “Brodie Lee” Huber, drew an average of 977,000 viewers on Wednesday night according to a report by Showbuzzdaily.com.

This is up from last week’s show that drew an average of 775,000 viewers on TNT. Dynamite came in at No. 4 for the night on cable in the 18-49 demographics, up from No. 5 where they placed last week.

This week’s episode of NXT drew an average of 586,000 viewers on Wednesday night.

This is down from last week’s show that averaged 698,000 viewers. NXT came in at No. 58 for the night on cable in the 18-49 demographics, down from No. 40 where they placed last week.

In overall viewership, AEW Dynamite defeated WWE NXT in the “Wednesday Night War” by 391,000 viewers.

Overall viewership for both shows was at 1.563 million average viewers, up from 1.473 million viewers that watched last week.

Demographic Ratings for AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT

WWE NXT, featuring an NXT North American Championship match, averaged a 0.12 rating among adults 18-49. This is down from the 0.19 rating they had last week.

AEW Dynamite, featuring a tribute to the late Jon “Brodie Lee” Huber, averaged a 0.40 rating among adults 18-49. This is up from the 0.32 rating they had last week.

2020 Averages for AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT

As these were the final shows in 2020 for AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT, here are the final averages for the year.

AEW Dynamite averaged 806,944 viewers for 2020.

Before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused AEW to hold their shows in empty arenas for most of the year, AEW averaged 884,364 viewers. That covers January 1 to March 11. From March 18, the start of the empty arena shows, to December 30, AEW Dynamite averaged 787,140.

WWE NXT averaged 698,623 viewers for 2020.

Before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, from January 1 to March 11, WWE NXT averaged 718,455 viewers. From March 18 to December 30, which saw NXT held at Full Sail University and the Capitol Wrestling Centre, the show averaged 693,429 viewers.

Total viewership between both Dynamite and NXT averaged 1.510 million viewers for 2020.

From January 1 to March 11, the shows averaged 1.603 million viewers. Following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, from March 18 to December 30, total viewership for both shows averaged 1.485 million viewers.

Head-to-head match-ups with AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw AEW come out on top of NXT 42-7. There were four week in August and September that saw both shows moved out of their head-to-head match-up due to NBA and NHL Playoffs.
