CM Punk reportedly was so unhappy backstage in AEW, some thought he would quit

According to a report from Fightful Select, CM Punk reportedly was said to be so unhappy backstage in AEW, some thought he would quit. It was said Punk had been expressing his displeasure verbally, sometimes so blatantly some backstage thought he might quit AEW.

Punk met with AEW higher-ups about the context of one of Adam Page’s promos, as Punk told others after the meeting that he would not lose to Page at the Double or Nothing PPV. The report also indicates that people within AEW felt that Wednesday night’s promo was “unfair” to Page, as he was not aware it was going to take place, thus, putting him in a no-win situation, as he could not interrupt a promo he was not supposed to be involved in.

Fightful Select further mentioned Page was in the building last night, but there is no word on how he took the promo. Page is said to be well-liked and not seen as confrontational. It was said is was believed that there were many backstage in AEW that Punk went into business for himself, with the promo as a “receipt” to Page, but is was also said by Fightful Select that this is largely nothing but locker room speculation.

The report from Fightful Select also states they “have not been given any inkling to believe that Punk will leave AEW”, but have been told by one AEW veteran they have heard “threats being levied” by Punk.

Punk and Jon Moxley are set to officially unify the AEW World Championship on next week’s Dynamite. Fightful Select notes that the decision for that match happened very late, as the match was previously scheduled for the All Out PPV on Sunday, September 4 in Hoffman Estates, near Chicago, which is Punk’s hometown.
