New Percy Jackson series premiere starring Adam Copeland airing on Hulu and Disney+

According to a report from Variety, the premiere episode for the new “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series starring AEW’s Adam Copeland will stream on concurrently on Hulu and Disney+, Wednesday, December 20.

Copeland plays Ares, the god of War, in a recurring guest star role.

It was also noted that only the premiere episode will stream on Hulu, while Disney+ will get two episodes on the premiere date, followed by new episodes weekly. However, the very first episode will remain on Hulu through January 31.

The news was officially announced by “Percy Jackson” author and series co-creator Rick Riordan during the show’s red carpet premiere, which was held at the Met Museum in New York City on Wednesday. Furthermore it was said that the new series marks a long-waited adaptation, as Riordan published the first “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” book in 2005. 20th Century Fox released two “Percy Jackson” films in 2010 and 2013. However, changes to the books and Riordan’s lack of involvement made the movies not as popular among the fanbase and the movie studio never followed through with films for the last three books.

Below is a synopsis of the series from Variety, along with the official trailer.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” follows Percy (Walker Scobell) on a dangerous quest. Outrunning monsters and outwitting gods, he must journey across America to return Zeus’ (Lance Reddick) master bolt and stop an all-out war. With the help of his quest mates Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri), Percy’s journey will lead him closer to the answers he seeks: how to fit into a world where he feels out of place, and find out who he’s destined to be.
