AEW officially announced the hiring of a new chief operating officer, Kosha Irby.
The hiring was first reported in January as AEW filled roles opened by the departure of other employees, but the new announcement offers insight into the responsibilities held by Irby, namely “all strategic planning and execution of Live Events, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Licensing, Consumer Products and other major lines of business for the company,” per F4WOnline.
A report from Fightful Select notes that these responsibilities were previously fulfilled by Rafael Morffi, the former Vice President of Live Events and Touring who has moved on to a role with the Barclays Center.
The new COO’s efforts have already earned an abundance of praise from his new backstage colleagues, according to the report.
Irby’s background includes a stint with WWE from 2011-2017 as their reginal director of live events, as well as chief marketing officer for Clemson University’s athletic department.
