Rebel posts video on importance of signing petition to protect ALS research and treatment access

Rebel posted a video to her Instagram on Friday, stating that she received an urgent message from I AM ALS stating the Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies for ALS Act, commonly known as the ACT for ALS, is set to expire on September 30, unless Congress approves it to continue. Rebel did say, however, Congress is attempting to delay a final decision until the end of this year and several ALS patients can’t afford to wait for that long.

“You’ve heard me talking about how important I AM ALS and their bill – the ACT for ALS – means to me. Renewing it will secure another $500 million for ALS research and treatment access. Even though it has unanimous support, Congress might keep pushing it off until the end of the year or longer. Please sign your name to this petition and tell them that’s not ok. ALS deserves your support, and needs it now. We can’t afford to wait. The ALS community needs hope and we need it urgently.“

AEW held a special Rebel Heart Dynamite this past Wednesday, honoring Rebel’s fight against ALS and showing their support for further research to help find a cure for the disease.

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a progressive, fatal neurological disease which destroys the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. Rebel said in a video that aired on this past Wednesday’s Dynamite, she started experiencing symptoms in 2024, but was not diagnosed until earlier this year.
