AAA

TripleMania Returning to iPPV
AAA’s Marisela Pena revealed this week that “TripleMania” will once again be live on iPPV this year. AAA hasn’t attempted an iPPV since the horrid failure that was last years attempt at “TripleMania.” I’m definitely not giving AAA my money until they can show that they can competently do an iPPV which they haven’t yet.

MISC/INDY

VICE Covers Lucha Libre
This week the very popular online magazine VICE released a great column by Christopher Malo where he described his time watching the Masked Republic “MaskMania” PPV live from the ECW Arena back in April. He focused heavily on Cassandro as well calling Lucha Libre a “heaven for gay wrestlers” because of the acceptance of exoticos. It really is a wonderful column.

VICE: LUCHA LIBRE IS COMING TO AMERICA

Pantera Jr. Working for Great Muta
Last week independent Japanese promotion and training school Wrestling News Classic shut its doors. The son of lucha legend El Pantera, Hijo del Pantera, has been working for that promotion for about two years as well as training there. Pantera has since moved over to the legendary Great Muta’s Wrestle-1 promotion where he will continue to train and wrestle. Interestingly enough Muta and TNA announced this week that TNA’s “Bound for Glory” event will take place in Japan this year so there may be a chance for Pantera to be involved in some form of an interpromotional match.

Luchadors in Japan
This week Mexican independent luchadors Rocky Lobo and Jinzo headed to Japan with Super Crazy to take part in the current Pro Wrestling NOAH tour which will culminate with all three taking part in the NTV G-Cup Junior Heavy Tag League Tournament. Lobo & Jinzo will team up in the tournament while Super Crazy will team with former WWE star Matt Striker. Other teams will include the reigning GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Zack Sabre Jr. & Yoshinari Ogawa, Taiji Ishimori & Atsushi Kotoge, Kenoue & Hajme Ohara, Daisuke Harada & Quiet Storm, Mitsuhiro Kitamiya & Hitoshi Kumano, Hiro Tonai & Shiroi Asashi of K-Dojo, Genba Hirayanagi & Kikutaro, and the legendary New Japan team of Jushin Thunder Liger & Tiger Mask IV. Quiet Storm is actually one of the trainers for Amazing Red’s House of Glory training school if I’m not mistaken. He was a part of that very popular group of Mikey Whipwreck trainees in the early 2000’s that toured all over America and Japan that included Amazing Red & The S.A.T., Divine Storm (Quiet Storm & Chris Divine), and Brian XL.

* NOTES *
– For some reason the name that stuck out here to me is Amnesia in the second match. He was given that name way back in 2010 by AAA and made a part of the new Los Vipers with the new versions of Psicosis and Histeria after Psicosis II and Histeria II left AAA for CMLL. Eventually AAA just flat out dropped the group and stopped using Amnesia. Since his last appearance in AAA I can remember seeing him on one card in all of this time, a PWR event in California back in 2011. Pretty sad to see a promising young luchador get a shot like that and then just have the rug pulled out from under him to never really recover.
