AAA USA Updates
El Rey and AAA have made a lot of announcements regarding the new USA venture which is officially going to be called “Lucha Underground.” AAA will be sending five of their luchador/luchadoras for the tapings in September and October (tapings will be 09/06, 09/07, 09/13, 09/14, 09/27, 09/28, 10/04, 10/05, 10/18, 10/19, 10/25, and 10/26). Those five are Blue Demon Jr., Fenix, Pentagon Jr., Sexy Star, and Drago. The rest of the stars of the show will be American independent wrestlers. PWInsider confirmed that Dragon Gate’s Ricochet will be a part of the series and will be getting a big push there. Matt Cross, who took part in the last season of WWE’s Tough Enough, has also signed as well as former WWE Diva Maxine, who will be wrestling as Karlee Perez. American indy wrestlers B-Boy and Ricky Reyes have also signed on. Also, PWInsider confirmed that Vampiro will be one of the commentators for the show and after the disaster of TripleMania this should be pretty horrific. Admission is free for the TV tapings and they are going to have live bands at the shows, sounds a lot like Wrestling Society X doesn’t it? Alberto del Rio is in Los Angeles right now and that is where this show is taping, I doubt that is a coincidence. There is a slew of wrestlers that have been offered deals but we don’t know if they have accepted it but The Young Bucks, Frankie Kazarian, Matt Sydal, Mike Sydal, and Willie Mack (who just signed with WWE) have all DEFINITELY turned the show down. Alberto del Rio Set to Make AAA In-Ring Return
AAA held a press conference this week to announce that Alberto del Rio, now Alberto el Patron, will make his in-ring return to AAA on 09/14 from the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya for AAA’s TV Taping. El Patron said that his lawyers and AAA have gotten his clearance to return to the ring. He will team with Myzteziz & La Parka Jr. to face Averno, Perro Aguayo Jr., & Texano Jr. in a star studded main event.

Anniversary Show To Stream Live on Internet
CMLL and Terra announced that they will be airing the 81st Anniversary Show on 09/19 live via the internet for free. CMLL has also confirmed three matches thus far for the event. Dragon Lee and Cachorro will face off against Puma King & Tiger Kid, there will be a luchadora cibernetico, and Ultimo Guerrero vs. Atlantis in a Mask vs. Mask Match. CMLL has been doing live streams of their major events for awhile now and the streams are usually pretty good. So that means you get to see CMLL’s biggest event of the year for free on a stream that will be pretty good compared to paying $12 for a stream that did not work at all for AAA’s biggest event. Rey Cometa vs. Cavernario is expected to be added at some point in a Hair vs. Hair Match that will likely steal the show.

TNA Scouting Indy Talent in Mexico
Mexican website Multimedia Deportes reported this week that TNA is currently scouting Mexican talent primarily based in Monterrey for the LyC promotion. Arena Coliseo Monterrey’s Dieog Garcia in the article claimed that they have been in contact with Bob Ryder and Andy Barton of TNA regarding TNA signing more luchadors to the promotion. The two luchadors singled out by Garcia were El Hijo del Ninja and Rico Rodriguez as being two that TNA are interested in. El Hijo del Ninja’s real name is Humberto Garza Solano and he is the grandson of the legendary Humberto Garza Sr. as well as being the cousin of the late Hector Garza. El Hijo del Ninja is an extremely young (22 years old) high flyer who was trained by his father Mario “el Ninja” Segura and cousin Hector Garza. Rico Rodriguez is a bit more of an odd person for TNA to be recruiting as he is 34 years old and has been wrestling, mainly indy, since 1998. Rico is almost always put with big time main eventers in LyC but has never gotten a shot in a major promotion himself.
