Alberto el Patron Debuts with Lucha Underground
After telling fans via Twitter last week that he would not be going to Lucha Underground just days later Alberto el Patron did just that debuting at the AAA USA promotions most recent TV tapings. He and Texano Jr. will be taking their feud to Lucha Underground and their debuts should air in early February.

2) Angelico def. Son of Havoc
3) Drago def. Aerostar
4) Pentagon Jr. def. Famous B
5) Cage def. Johnny Mundo
6) Fenix def. Argenis
7) Johnny Mundo def. Son of Havoc
8) Pentagon Jr. def. Ricky Mandell
* NOTES *
– At the end of the taping Alberto el Patron made his Lucha Underground debut holding the AAA World Title. He said that a revolution was coming but then Texano Jr. ran out, also making his debut, and attacked Alberto.

Lucha Underground 01/18 TV Taping Boyle Heights, CA Results
1) Argenis, Hernandez, & Jeff Cobb def. Mariachi Loco, Ricky Mandell, & Son of Havoc
2) Mil Muertes def. Chavo Guerrero Jr.
3) Ivelisse Velez def. Angelico
4) Texano Jr. def. Super Fly
5) No DQ Match: Mascarita Sagrada, Pimpinela Escarlata, & Sexy Star def. The Crew (Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco, & Bael)
6) Cage def. Prince Puma
7) Aerostar def. Drago
8) Pentagon Jr. def. Vinny Massaro
9) Johnny Mundo fought King Cuerno to a DRAW
* NOTES *
– Catrina and Mil Muertes have parted ways and she got involved in his match with Chavo. Mil was about to lay her out but Fenix ran in for the save. She is now with Fenix.
– Angelico tried to flirt with Ivelisse in their match leading to Ivelisse pinning him. Even after the loss Angelico told Ivelisse she should ditch Son of Havoc and come date him.
– Super Fly is still wearing his mask. Alberto ran in after the Texano-Super Fly match and brawled with Texano continuing their feud.
– Big Ryck distracted his former partners in the fifth match leading to Sexy Star getting the pin for her team.
– Puma/Cage was non-title but if Cage won he got a shot at the title in the future. Konnan came out and threw in the towel during the match giving Cage the win which caused he and Puma to have problems.
– Aerostar gets his win back from Drago but both men showed respect to each other after the match which pissed off Dario Cueto. Cueto said that they would have a rubber match where the winner will get a “special opportunity” as he was trying to get them to stop with the respect stuff.
– Massaro was a jobber and got squashed by Pentagon. Pentagon teased a mystery mentor that has been training him.
– Mundo/Cuerno was said to have been a wonderful match but the end came when they brawled all over the arena and in the crowd leading to a double countout. Sounds like that is the start of a feud between the two.

CMLL

Mr. Niebla Pulled from Shows
CMLL’s Mr. Niebla did not appear at all on the Japanese tour after Night 4 and then pulled from the lineups of all upcoming shows in Mexico for CMLL. Niebla has had a long history of being in the doghouse and being suspended for various reasons in both AAA and CMLL, including substance abuse issues. CMLL has not said what the issue is and it could be something as simple as getting injured in Japan, but with his history most will assume that he embarrassed CMLL in Japan with his personal issues and if that is the case it may have been the last straw for him.

Dorada In Japan

* NOTES *
– Cometa and Cavernario was terrific, match of the year candidate type of stuff.
– Before the Main Event NJPW announced that Mascara Dorada had signed a one year deal and then had an awesome match with Sombra. Sombra looked like he was dealing with a leg injury but still put on a great performance. This really comes as some pretty shocking news. You wouldn’t think CMLL would be cool with losing one of their best talents for a year, unless they were getting something in return, but this a pretty massive opportunity for Dorada. Dorada is considered a pretty big family man so living away from his family for the majority of a year seems like it will be a strain on him, and it is unclear how often he will be able to come back to CMLL to work this year.

Laredo Kid Receives WWE Tryout
This week former AAA star Laredo Kid revealed, via SuperLuchas, that he received a tryout with the WWE at their recent show in Dallas, Texas. He said that WWE officials told him they wanted to come back for another tryout in April. Laredo Kid is still very young and has been gone from AAA since 2010 when he and his brother, Super Laredo, started up their own independent promotion in southern Texas TXCW (Texican Championship Wrestling). Laredo has also spent a lot of time in Puerto Rico over the last year.

Lucha Dream Match Coming to WrestleMania Weekend
This week it was announced that at the big King of the Indies Tournament iPPV during WrestleMania weekend (03/28) they will hold a special non-tournament three way pitting two legends against a young high flyer. Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Dragon, and Ricochet will meet in a high flyer 3-Way that is sure to blow people’s minds. Juvi and Dragon have obvious connections having worked against each other all over the world, but the last time they were int he ring together was back in 2009 for Dragon’s Toryumon Mexico promotion. All three have lucha libre connections with Juventud’s being obvious as he grew up a luchador and Ultimo Dragon made a name for himself in Mexico long before coming to WCW in the 90s. Ricochet is the current Lucha Underground Champion wrestling as Prince Puma for the promotion. Neither Dragon or Juvi have ever been in the ring with Ricochet however. Dragon’s wrestling career began in Mexico following his graduation for the New Japan Dojo, working for the legendary UWA promotion under his real name Yoshiniro Asai. Dragon learned from the best, taught by Gran Hamada in Japan and Negro Casas in Mexico, and was given the Ultimo Dragon name and gimmick when he signed with CMLL in Mexico in the early 90’s. Since then Dragon has become a true superstar in Mexico, Japan, and America having worked for All Japan, New Japan, CMLL, AAA, WCW, and WWE along with running his own promotion and gym. He is the founder of the popular Dragon Gate promotion, then known as Toryumon before he left for the WWE in the early 2000s leaving the promotion to start over as Dragon Gate, as well as running shows every year in Mexico under the Toryumon Mexico name. Dragon still trains wrestlers along with running his sporadic Toryumon events and working for Japanese promotions like All Japan and Michinoku Pro. Juvi is one of the more well known luchadors in America due to his stints in WWE, WCW, TNA, and ECW over the years. The often times controversial Guerrera is the son of the legendary Fuerza Guerrera and has worked for virtually every promotion and promoter in Mexico. Ricochet was trained by American lucha promotion CHIKARA and is widely considered the best young high flyer in the world by many. He has worekd for Dragon Gate and various promotions in Mexico as well as being one of the stars of Lucha Underground currently under the Prince Puma name. Also, Rey Horus (formerly Hijo del Rey Misterio) is scheduled to take part in the King of the Indies Tournament. How awesome would it be to see Horus added to that lucha match?
