Predictions for Money in the Bank 2015

WWE Money in the Bank Predictions
June 14, 2015
By: Mike Tedesco of Wrestleview.com

It’s time for another edition of Money in the Bank. Even with a less than stellar two week build that really didn’t provide any real opportunities for any kind of interesting build for any of these matches, I’m still looking forward to the event. The three “main events” alone should be worth the price of admission. I’m just glad that after this we can get back to having more traditional builds for events. Hopefully when I write another one of these up next month, I’ll have a lot more to say about how good the build was.

WWE Money in the Bank Kickoff Show
King Barrett vs. R-Truth

For those who were hoping that Wade Barrett would be doing a lot better after winning the King of the Ring, I guess you’ve got to be disappointed. He’s still losing just as much and actually means even less to the show than he did before winning the crown. How is that possible? Two weeks ago, he was eliminated from the Elimination Chamber by the very man he’s facing tonight. R-Truth has been an absolute comedy character that just exists on the card, and he is the one who pinned the King of the Ring. I think Barrett has to get back a little bit of steam, so he’s got to pin R-Truth in the middle of the ring tonight.

Prediction: King Barrett

WWE United States Champion vs. NXT Champion
John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

Two weeks ago, these two had a tremendous match that really got people buzzing. Kevin Owens pinned John Cena clean in the middle of the ring. That was the right finish for the match. Everyone knew it, but no one was really sure if WWE would see it through. Thankfully they did and it was a really neat moment. Just two weeks later, we’re getting “the most anticipated rematch in WWE history” according to Cena on this past Monday’s RAW. To me, this rematch is way, way, way too rushed. No one has even had time to decompress from the first one and all of a sudden the rematch is here. Traditionally, this means it’s time for Cena to get his win back and never lose to Owens again. To me, that’s the wrong move. Owens should go over again here to establish him as not being a fluke and turn him into a monster. They have a real opportunity to make a huge star. Cena could be pinned from now until the end of the year and not lose any other momentum he’s built up over the last eleven years. To me, Owens has to win this one again. Let it build up to SummerSlam. Then Cena can get his win back.

Prediction: Kevin Owens

WWE Divas Championship Match
Paige vs. Nikki Bella (c)

I really didn’t get the build for this match at all. Two weeks ago, the Bellas were faces. No one knew what the hell Paige was. Over the last two weeks, the Bellas have done twin magic (a heel finish) and Nikki has shown some heel tendencies by imitating Scott Steiner in the middle of her matches. It’s just all over the place and not interesting to me. To top it all off, Naomi has all but disappeared when, in my mind, she should really be the Divas Champion. I’m guessing that Nikki will be going for AJ’s record reign, so I don’t see her losing tonight.

Prediction: Nikki Bella

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Big Show vs. Ryback (c)

This is definitely a weird match. I have no issue with Ryback facing Big Show. I just find it strange that they gave away Ryback hitting him with Shell Shocked on RAW instead of saving it for tonight. I don’t care how many times Big Show has been lifted – it’s still damn impressive and should be saved for special events. To me, that would signal a Big Show win tonight, but it’s only been two weeks for Ryback as champion. It’s just too early for him to lose it yet. This is just an oddly booked match.

Prediction: Ryback

WWE Tag Team Championships Match
The Prime Time Players vs. The New Day (c’s)

I have to admit I like the fire The Prime Time Players have been showing, particularly Titus O’Neil. He’s getting a mini-push probably due to winning that Celebrity Father of the Year award and is making the most of it. I don’t think they’ll go over on The New Day, but it’s nice to see them step up to the plate. The New Day is still on fire with their heel gimmick. This could go on for a while and not get stale. It’s just amazing how far The New Day has come since going heel.

Prediction: The New Day

Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Neville vs. Sheamus

I really didn’t care for the build to the Money in the Bank match this year. Usually it’s a bigger deal. They do qualifying matches and really build it up. This year, with only two weeks, it’s just announced who is in the match and that’s that. The match will almost definitely be good with lots of great stunts, but it’s just lacking that bit of excitement going into it. The only two that have really set themselves apart from everyone else in terms of being positioned as a favorite are Roman Reigns and Kane. I don’t think Kane has a shot, so it’s got to be Roman Reigns. This actually sets up some really interesting possibilities for Reigns. Reigns could cash in at an opportune time and turn heel at some point or he could announce his cash in and challenge a guy straight up to stay face. I like Reigns in this one.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

WWE World Heavyweight Championship – Ladder Match
Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins (c)

This match will be awesome. Rollins has really distanced himself from The Authority and has been ordered to win this match all on his own. This should provide some good drama. These two will go all out on this one, but Rollins will wind up picking up the win. I don’t know if it’ll be all on his own, but he’ll walk away with the title. My hat is off to Ambrose. He made the most of his opportunity and will hopefully retain some steam heading into the summer.

Prediction: Seth Rollins

Two weeks ago, I went 3-3 with my predictions for WWE Elimination Chamber. Technically for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match, all I predicted was Seth Rollins to retain, which he did, but I’ll still give myself a loss there because he wasn’t declared the winner of the match.

Predictions Record: 26-16 (.619)

This event also marks a year since I started doing these prediction pieces. It’s just a fun little thing to read before the event and maybe start some discussions with people about certain picks and things. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them.

All-time Predictions Record: 65-30 (.684)

Well, those are my predictions for the show. Do you agree? Disagree? Let me know!
