Two former WWE Superstars had tryouts as producers at Friday night’s WWE SmackDown

According to Fightful Select, Joe Hennig (Formerly known as Curtis Axel) and Ariya Daivari were both backstage at Friday night’s WWE SmackDown working as producers.

It is being said they were both trying out as producers.

The report notes that Hennig helped produce the Sasha Banks vs. Liv Morgan match under Tyson Kidd. Diavari helped produce the match between Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn, under Abyss.

Hennig was released by WWE back in April 2020 as part of budget cuts related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hennig has not wrestled since his release from WWE. He is also the son of the late Curt Hennig, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. Hennig, under the in-ring name of Curtis Axel, is also a former WWE Intercontinental Champion. He was also part of The B-Team with Bo Dallas.

Daivari initially signed with WWE in 2016 and mainly wrestled on NXT and 205 Live. He was released in July of last year. He has since made appeared for AEW and New Japan Strong since being released.
