During a recent livestream on her Twitch channel, Dakota Kai described the chaotic nature of her experience at WWE SummerSlam, leading up to the moment she showed up to congratulate IYO SKY on winning the WWE Women’s Championship.
On being contacted in Orlando just hours before the show was set to begin in Detroit, Kai said:
“It’s my sleep in day. I’m gonna chill, not even gonna set my alarm. My phone was on ‘Do Not Disturb’…I wake up, my phone is blowing up. My anxiety was just through the roof, I saw all of these missed calls, all these texts…and [Bayley’s] like ‘We need you here!’.”
She went on to say that only one flight could get her to the show on time, an airline she had never traveled with before…and after a flight delay, managed to land in Detroit during the course of the Premium Live Event with essentially just enough time to be there for the moment with her Damage CTRL teammates:
“Whatever match was after Shayna and Ronda, we landed. And thank goodness, they sent car service to come and get me and then they also had a makeup lady in the car…yes, lucky [SKY winning the title] was semi-main because I definitely wouldn’t have made it, I don’t think.”
