Dominik Mysterio confirms surgery is not needed for injury

During the 4/22 edition of WWE RAW, Dominik was seen in an arm sling and pulled from a tag match with JD McDonagh against Andrade and Ricochet.

McDonagh instead teamed with Santos Escobar in the match, with speculation running as to Dominik’s status.

Dave Meltzer reported in the most recent Wrestling Observer that the former NXT North American Champion would need surgery, keeping Mysterio on television while he recovers:

Dominik Mysterio also had an elbow injury. It apparently happened in a 4/15 match with Andrade and was described to us as a freak accident. He will be undergoing Tommy John surgery on his elbow which for a baseball pitcher means at least nine months out. Since he doesn’t have to throw pitches hard, his recovery time would probably be a little shorter.

As of right now, the plan would be to keep him as a television character while recovering. He was off the European tour and had his arm in a sling at Raw.

Mysterio has responded to the report, stating he will not need surgery for the elbow injury:

The timetable for Dominik’s return is unclear as of this writing, but would likely be much sooner with no surgery required.
