Per Fightful Select, according to sources, there was an incident involving Cargill and Shayna Baszler last year which reportedly led to some backstage heat for Cargill.

It has been said Cargill allegedly made a comment that implied Baszler needed to improve her in-ring skills, which was the result from a house show in Scotland where Cargill tapped out to Baszler, but this was reportedly not supposed to have been the finish.

Cargill also drew further heat with her promo video where she was surrounded by wolves in the shape of women and “demanding respect.” This was said to have “struck a nerve” with talent.

Cargill’s lengthy absence from WWE reportedly caused some contention among the roster. It has been said Cargill requested to take time off from WWE and the holiday tour, even though participation was mandatory. It was added talent within the locker room questioned Cargill’s injury and its legitimacy, as her injury supposedly happened around the time the holiday tour was beginning.

Despite some feeling that Cargill’s injury was not legitimate, WWE higher-ups stood firm that injury was real. Furthermore, it was said that Cargill had to obtain clearance by medical staff and then undergo training the Performance Center before she could make her return to the ring.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter side states that a ‘half a dozen people’ confirmed Cargill had an altercation with Baszler.

It is said that Cargill reportedly “rubbed people the wrong way with the Raw women’s roster. Baszler reportedly wanted to fight Cargill. However, nothing happened as it was added that WWE management was made aware of the situation and was able to calm Baszler down. It was added that this all transpired around the time of the matches that consisted of Baszler and Zoey Stark vs. Cargill and Bianca Belair.

Melter wrote the following:

“It’s been confirmed by a half dozen people that it happened, but nobody went into details past Cargill had rubbed enough people in the Raw women’s division the wrong way and Baszler was wanting to fight her until management found out and calmed the situation down…I don’t know what in particular happened other than it wasn’t just one thing and the belief is that some of this stemmed from inside the ring in those matches and some didn’t. Although one woman star said they believed the tension within the Smackdown side was worse than the Raw side.”
