Kenny Omega is the new AEW World Champion.
Omega defeated MJF to win the title for a second time. Omega won his first AEW World Championship back on December 2, 2020, by defeating Jon Moxley. He held the title for 346 days and then lost it to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page at the 2021 Full Gear PPV.
Below is an excerpt from Alex Kahrs’ AEW Dynamite Beach Break recap of how the title change went down.
MJF starts to pull out his Dynamite Diamond Ring but out comes Will Ospreay, who grabs the ring away from the champ! The ref catches this and has something of an argument with Ospreay while Omega grabs the World Title, looking to hit the champ with it. He decides against it, and MJF takes advantage of this with a low blow! Cover by MJF…and Omega kicks out at one!
Kenny fires back, setting up for multiple V-Triggers and a One Winged Angel…and he gets the pin and the win!
