During her appearance on the latest episode of the Brie & Nikki show live from Fanatics Fest in New York City, Paige revealed why AEW never felt like home to her.
She said that she is a ‘WWE girl’, but did say that she nothing but love for AEW head Tony Khan.
“Well, I did go to AEW, and I did have a great time there, but my heart wasn’t in it. I feel like you could see that in my performance when I was in the ring and in my character. It was just like, ‘I’m a WWE girl, man.’ I love WWE. So, yeah, I went there for a couple of years, and then we went our separate ways. It ended really, really great, and I have nothing but love when it comes to AEW and Tony [Khan] and stuff like that. But when it comes to WWE, that’s just where I’ve wanted to be forever. I’ve been there since I was 18 years old. I gave my neck for this company, you know? I grew up here.”
Paige made her AEW debut, under her real name of Saraya during the Grand Slam episode of Dynamite at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York back on on September 21, 2022. She won the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In London on August 227, 2023 at Wembley Stadium in London on August 27, 2023, in a four-way match that included Hikaru Shida, Toni Storm and Britt Baker. Saraya would then drop the title 44 days later to Shida at the Title Tuesday episode of Dynamite on October 10.
On March 26, 2025 Saraya announced her departure from AEW.
Saraya, under her WWE name of Paige, returned to the company at WrestleMania 42 Night One on April 18, 2026, replacing at injured Nikki Bella in a match for the women’s tag team Championships, defeating Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, and Nia Jax and Lash Legend in a Fatal 4-Way.
Paige and Brie lost the titles to Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid and this past weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
