AEW head Tony Khan and AEW Broadcaster Tony Schiavone announced in a video on Monday the field of 16 participants, first-round matches, and the rules for the first-ever Continental Cup tournament, which concludes at the All In London PPV on August 30.
The winner of the tournament will be crowned the new AEW Continental Champion and will also win the new Continental Cup.
First-round matches will begin on this Saturday’s Collision, live from the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Matches will take place on the August 12 episode of Dynamite at the Pearl Concert Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada. AEW will also tape the August 15 episode of Collision that night, which will also feature Continental Cup matches.
This Saturday’s Collision will feature the following Continental Cup Tournament Matches:
-Ace Austin vs. Claudio Castagnoli
-Eddie Kingston vs. Jake Doyle
-Orange Cassidy vs. Matt Sydal
August 12 episode of Dynamite will feature the following Continental Cup Tournament Matches:
-Jay White vs. David Finlay
-Jon Moxley vs. Jack Perry
August 15 episode of Collision will feature the following Continental Cup Tournament Matches:
-Roderick Strong vs. Kyle O’Reilly
-Hechicero vs. Brian Cage
-Nigel McGuinness vs. Katsuyori Shibata
