During Saturday’s AEW Collision, Tony Schiavone revealed a new World Title Match for WrestleDream that current champion Will Ospreay presented to Tony Khan.
The AEW World Championship will be defended in Clockwork Carnage at the WrestleDream pay-per-view, which takes place at the Additional Financial Arena on the main campus of the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
Below are the rules for the match, as explained by AEW.
-Eight wrestlers. Two Stages. One Winner.
-Two wrestlers will start the match selected at random
-Every three minutes, another randomly selected wrestler enters
-Until all eight wrestlers have entered the ring, any wrestler who is pinned or submitted is eliminated
-Once the final wrestler enters, all remaining wrestlers enter a fifteen-minute scoring period
-During those fifteen minutes, every pinfall or submission will score as one fall
-When the time limit expires, the wrestler with the most falls wins
Two other matches are also scheduled for the pay-per-view, which is Mercedes Mone’ defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against Thekla and the Young Bucks defending the World Tag Team Titles against Kyle Fletcher and Darby Allin.
Thekla defeated Willow Nightingale at All Out to earn the right to challenge Mone’ and Fletcher and Knight won the No. 1 contenders match, after they were awarded the match against Darby Allin and Steven Borden, after Borden landed on his head following a spot off the top rope, causing the referee to stop the match. The camera cut away after doctors and other officials were checking on Borden. The commentary team spoke on how accidents sometimes happen in professional wrestling. The 34-year old Borden is currently out of action with no timeline on when he will return.
