Yesterday, over the course of the day ROH officials came to agreements on three matches for our return to The Du Burns Arena in Baltimore on February 4th for our next set of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings!
The first, is a rematch from the “Survival of the Fittest 2011” finals, pits the winner of that tournament, “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin, against the very man he eliminated to win, Kyle O’Reilly! Kyle, alongside Davey Richards, is coming off a big tag team win over Elgin & Roderick Strong last weekend in Norfolk where O’Reilly pinned Roderick and earned a Tag Title bout for ROH’s Cincinnati debut. History is not in Kyle’s favor coming into this match-up between ROH’s top two breakout stars of 2011 as in their previous one-on-one encounters Elgin has taken home the victory. Can Kyle stem the tide of history or will Elgin, his thoughts firmly on his future ROH World Title match, once again put down O’Reilly?
Second, in a rematch of their “Northern Aggression” bout from 12/4, TJ Perkins will battle “The Prodigy” Mike Bennett. Bennett is really looking to get back into championship contention, especially after his “Final Battle 2011” TV Title loss & defeat in his subsequent rematch with Lethal last time in Baltimore. Perkins, on the other hand, is desperately in need of that crucial victory to put him into any title picture. Can TJ find that missing ingredient to achieve victory in ROH or will Bennett get back on the road to championship success?
Finally, in another rematch from “Northern Aggression”, The Young Bucks will take on Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander in a Tag Team Challenge Match! C&C are fresh off their lottery-earned Tag Title shot in Norfolk, VA and although they went down in defeat to The Briscoes, Caprice & Cedric certainly proved they are capable of holding their own with the top teams in ROH. The Bucks have a ROH World Tag Title shot of their own waiting in the wings stemming from their victory in the “Final Battle 2011” Gauntlet Match, and a victory here would be absolutely crucial to maintaining momentum as they wait for ROH officials to finalize the time & place of that championship bout. Can C&C rebound from their Norfolk loss & stay in the title hunt or will The Young Bucks continue to stand tall in the tag division as they near their own title shot?
Elgin vs. O’Reilly, Perkins vs. Bennett, and The Young Bucks vs. Coleman & Alexander! It all goes down on Saturday night, February 4th when ROH returns to Baltimore, MD! Tickets for these “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings are available now!
