Dragon Gate USA during Mania week

It would appear that ROH is not the only one that will run shows in Arizona Wrestlemania weekend. Dragon Gate USA has sent out the following press release today:

“Dragon Gate USA is excited to announce that DGUSA will run two events in Phoenix, AZ at the beautiful Celebrity Theatre on Friday night, March 26th, and Saturday, March 27th, with the time to be announced. Tickets will go on sale shortly so you have time to make plans and arrangements. We will post ticket packages and info later this week right here at DGUSA.tv.

The Celebrity Theatre is a first class facility that has housed major musical acts and wrestling, including WWE’s version of ECW. It is located very close to the airport, making it an extremely convenient location for all those traveling to Phoenix. The building has ice cold air conditioning and a full bar. There are also plenty of hotels nearby. Go to www.CelebrityTheatre.com for more info on this great building.

From 2006-2008 fans from around the world were amazed by the athleticism of the Dragon Gate competitors on Wrestlemania weekend, highlighted each year by the annual six man tag. This year the tradition returns as Dragon Gate is bringing its best to Phoenix to compete in six man tag team competition again. Also already signed for both events are Davey Richards and The Young Bucks of Nick & Matt Jackson.
“The Wrestlemania double shot was a huge highlight for me personally from 2006 to 2008,” DGUSA VP Gabe Sapolsky said. “It was so much fun to present those shows with the Dragon Gate talent. Now after a one year hiatus we will all converge on Phoenix to continue the tradition. The Dragon Gate six man tag is back! Now we will show fans from all over the world how fresh and exciting Dragon Gate USA is.”
These two events will also feature much more great action and an all star talent roster. We’ll have more news later this week, including all the ticket details, right here at DGUSA.tv.”

It should be interesting to note that they have not yet announced what time they are going to run these shows but with ROH already running a Saturday matinee show at 2pm and the WWE Hall of Fame taking place that evening there is a definite shot at Dragon Gate running head to head with either ROH or the WWE Hall of Fame. I would bet my money on them running against the former and it should be interesting to see how that hurts business as the Wrestlemania weekend shows have been some of ROH best gates in the past few years. Plus you would have to think that with Davey Richards and the Young Bucks being pushed in both companies that the pressure would be on for them to work for one company over the other.
