LIVE PRO-WRESTLING

AWF RISE UP TOUR

@ WALLSEND PIONEER HALL

SAT 15 AUG, 2009

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) returns to the Hunter Region on Saturday 15 August at Wallsend Pioneer Hall to present a huge evening of live pro-wrestling action, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers as part of the ?AWF Rise Up Tour?.

The card itself will feature 7 bouts showcasing the new wave of exciting talent in AWF, all pumped up and ready to go to put on a family friendly all ages show that will excite and entertain all comers.

One of the headline wrestlers as part of the Rise Up Tour is the recently crowned AWF Commonwealth Champion, Powerhouse Theo. Theo is a product of the AWF School of pro-wrestling, and since making his debut in 2006 has progressed up the cards holding the Young Lion’s under 25’s Championship, and then going on to defeat the top international talent put in front of him. In April, Theo defeated New Zealand’s Roger Ventura in one of the most action packed bouts of the year so far to become the second AWF Commonwealth Champion. In May he defended the honour of Australia overcoming Japan’s Nosawa Rongai in an exciting bout at Blacktown RSL. The Rise Up Tour will see Powerhouse Theo aim to continue his popular reign, epitomizing the fighing spirit and skill of rising stars of the AWF.

Current AWF Tag Team Champions ?The Gosford Giddyups? will also feature on the Rise Up Tour, and will no doubt be looking to bring their fun and energetic style of action to the ring. The team comprising of Billy Flyswat & Max Comic use technical wrestling with some cheeky tandem moves that combine to give them a successful chemistry currently unmatched in the tag team ranks. The Tag Champions commented they have been training hard to keep ahead of their often larger and physically tougher opponents, and will use their skill, smarts and good energy to overcome their antagonisers. The Giddyups say they look forward to meeting the fans at Wallsend & putting on a fun showing for all in attendance.

The Young Lion’s Championship scene will no doubt also be a point of focus with current Champion the vampire like Zander Bathory residing in his castle at the top of the mountain. Bathory however has a list of hungry Young Lion’s ready to counter his bite, and it will be of great interest to see if Bathory can walk away as Champion after battle.

Many other rising wrestlers will be looking to prove themselves and move up the cards in AWF with strong showings on the Rise Up tour. Newcomer ?Mint Condition? Mick Moretti is looking to make an impact with his assault on all the senses. ?Bombshell Bo? is determined to prove that she is the premier ladies wrestler in Australasia and will battle arch rival Harley Wonderland to see if she is. Ben Coles is looking to breaking through and becoming one of the top names in AWF.

On the other hand the established wrestlers of the AWF will be doing their best to keep their positions on the cards. The likes of ?The Freakshow’s? Massive Q & Toxin, and former AWF Champion ?Platinum Player? Steve Ravenous will all no doubt be looking to put a stop to the young rising warriors and continue to take the glory for themselves.

Victory as part of the Rise Up Tour will no doubt be the key objective to survival for positioning on upcoming events and elevating oneself into title contention, so be sure to come and see what transpires as the competitive stakes are at an all time high which will no doubt result in some great live pro-wrestling action.

?Rise Up? is sure to be a top notch evening of pro-wrestling showcasing a fantastic blend of skill, athleticism & showmanship. So if you are looking for a fun night out, come and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation Rise Up Tour.

We advise to book early to avoid disappointment.

AWF LIVE EVENTS RESULTS JULY 2009

Rise Up Mt Druitt
Fri 24 July, 2009
Mt Druitt PCYC
Minto, NSW

Results: Il Cognito b ?Mint Condition? Mick Moretti, Frankie Fettucini b Toxin, 3 Way: Rob The Scientist b Massive Q & Traffic, Billy Flyswat, Max Comic & Bombshell Bo b Steve Ravenous, Kid Dynamite & Selene, Young Lions: Ben Coles b Zander Bathory DQ, AWF Commonwealth Championship: Powerhouse Theo b Vinny Dunn

Show Notes:
– Jules Rose debuted as a referee for the evening, sharing duties with AWF favourite Tony Kebab.
– After victory, Il Cognito addressed that the Freakshow would be doing whatever it takes to keep the Young Lion’s title, and would re mount it’s assault on all other championships.
– While trying to work together early on, teamwork between Traffic & Massive Q broke down with both big men at each others throats at the conclusion of the bout. The two will meet in singles action on 25 Sept.
– Selene debuted as the Platinum Players partner and was no match for Bombshell Bo.
– Ben Coles came close to the Young Lion’s Championship, only to be gipped by the interference of Toxin. The Freaks beat on Coles until the Giddyups and Bo came to Benny’s aid. Max Comic challenged them to 6 man tag for 25 Sept.
– Vinny Dunn showed a lot of talent in his bout with Powerhouse Theo, but his cockyness cost him in the end as Theo pinned Dunn with the Powerbomb to remain Commonwealth Champion.

– AWF returns to Mt Druitt PCYC on 25 September with the Break Out Tour. Tix on sale at the venue, AWF website or on night at door.

Rise Up Minto
Sat 25 July, 2009
AWF Dojo
Minto, NSW

Results: ?Mint Condition? Mick Moretti b Toxin, Harley Wonderland b Bombshell Bo, Ben Coles b Vinny Dunn, Tag Titles: Max Comic & Billy Flyswat b Traffic & Fettucini, Massive Q beat AWF students Grant Linstrom & Chris Goode, Commonwealth Title: Powerhouse Theo b Adam Hoffman

Show Notes:
– Mick Moretti upset former Tag Champion Toxin in the hard fought opening bout to earn himself a Commonwealth Title shot at Wallsend.
– Alison Wonderland is now calling herself ?Harley? Wonderland. She defeated Bombshell Bo with underhanded means, leading to Bo challenging her to a rematch at Wallsend on 15 August.
– Ben Coles stepped up and defeated one of NZ’s premier mat men in Vinny Dunn after a series of pins into a roll up. Dunn headed straight for New Zealand after the bout.
– Traffic & Frankie Fettucini came close to winning the tag titles from the Giddyups in a fun and entertaining bout.
– Massive Q challenged anyone in the crowd to slam or beat him. AWF school students were in attendance, and student Grant Linstrom came in and had a shot. After a valiant few minutes Q mushed him and scored with an avalanche for the win. Q not quite content challenged anyone else. Fans and students urged the biggest of the students, Chris Goode to take his shoot. After persuasion he charged the ring and gave a valiant fight until Q splashed him again showing his dominance, with the $10,000 in tact he left.
– Main event was a fan friendly but highly competitive bout between the returning from USA, Adam Hoffman and Powerhouse Theo. After back and forth action from both, Theo finally scored with The Powerbomb for the close win. Powerhouse raised Hoffman’s hand afterwoods in sportsmanship.

– AWF returns to AWF Dojo on 5 September with the Break Out Tour. Tix on sale at the door on the night or AWF website.

Rise Up Fairy Meadow
Sun 26 July, 2009
Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club
Fairy Meadow, NSW

Results: Ben Coles b Rockefellar, Bombshell Bo b Aroura, Cornershop Connection b Team Astronomy, Kyle Semenoff b ?Mint Condition? Mick Moretti, AWF Tag Titles: Max Comic & Billy Flyswat b Zander, Adam Hoffman b Il Cognito, Commonwealth Title: Powerhouse Theo b Steve Ravenous

Show Notes:
– Shane Herbert debuted as a referee for the event.
– Ben Coles was all fired up pinning Rockefellar to the local crowds delight in the opener. Afterwoods he addressed the audience and asked them to return on 11 October as he would face former WWE Smackdown wrestler ?Kizarny? at the next Fairy Meadow event.
– Aroura showed her nasty streak, but Bo was too much in the end in the ladies bout.
– Frankie & Traffic’s win over Spaceboy and The Scientist was a vastly entertaining encounter and put both teams higher up in the tag title scene.
– Kyle Semenoff overcame an almost upset defeat to the in form Mick Moretti after an enziguri kick almost knocked him out, however he was still able to defeat Moretti on instinct applying a shin submission for the win.
– Black Venum showed little form against The Gossford Giddyups, with the crowd favourite Champion’s victorious.
– In a great back and forth bout, Adam Hoffman’s high flying skills were the difference, as he upset Il Cognito, finishing him off with the shooting star press.
– Powerhouse Theo pinned Steve Ravenous the main event with a gore. Ravenous was distracted by a women fan early in the bout and Theo was able to stay focused, thus perhaps being the ultimate difference.

– AWF returns to Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club on 11 October with the Break Out Tour. Tix on sale at the club now.

AWF NEWSWIRE AUGUST 2009

– AWF’s Rise Up Winter Tour is into it’s last stage with Wallsend on 15 August and Bankstown on 22 August climaxing the events. We haven?t been in the Hunter area for a while, so our Newcastle fans please come out so we can make it a regular stop off again, and Bankstown would be a good new regular area also.

– Commonwealth Champion Powerhouse Theo continues to impress with victories over the regions best. Theo’s recent wins over top New Zealand Heavyweight Vinny Dunn, Adam Hoffman and Steve Ravenous at Rise Up events, plus his defense in Perth, WA against NC Viper have kept him at the top of the heap and has solidified the Commonwealth Title as the hottest belt in the country at the moment. Theo will face two other hungry competitors upcoming, with both men making their first appearances in main events, being ?Mint Condition? Mick Moretti at Wallsend, and ?Spaceboy? Jason Dacey at Bankstown.

– Speaking of Championships, TNT has a major announcement at the upcoming Wallsend event to make regarding the Australasian Championship. For those in NSW, TNT now pens a column at the start of each month in Drum Media updating it’s readers on all AWF. The magazine is a free street press available at most music stores so be sure to check it out.

– With the fallout of PsychoticSlam, has come the break down of many of the major units and changes to the AWF roster. The Platinum Players unit has crumbled. It could be sighted that recent in fighting at events and a lack of victories led to their downfall. Leader Steve Ravenous is seemingly the only remaining member. Can he pick up the pieces of the once most prominent faction in AWF and build the Players up again, or will he too fall into obscurity? Time will tell.

– After being defeated at Fairy Meadow by Adam Hoffman, former AWF Champion Il Cognito has notified AWF officials that he his going to have a leave of absence. Could he be looking for more members of the Freakshow, or to regroup after the recent loss of AWF title? Stay posted to see where this leaves The Freashow in the coming weeks.

– Speaking of Carnival Freaks, fresh from The Jim Rose Vs Jake ?The Snake? Roberts tour, former WWE Smackdown wrestler ?Kizarny? Sinn Bodhi will be coming to Australia for AWF in October as part of the Break Out Tour. Full details to be announced on AWF website in coming days.

– Freakshow member Zander Bathory’s Young Lion’s Championship reign continues, with him barely escaping recent bouts with the Championship. It appears that The Freakshow’s strategy is to keep their last remaining title at all costs, be it via disqualification or sneak attack. These desperate measures will need to be taken into consideration as ?Team Astronomy? mount their one two punch against Zander for the title at upcoming events.

– Jason Dacey enters into the biggest two weekend of his wrestling career in the final leg of the Rise Up tour. With his recent form pinning Young Lion’s Champion Zander Bathory in a non title bout, he has been granted a rematch for the Title at Wallsend. Jason likes to go by the monicker ?Spaceboy? for his whacky and crazed antics, however if you get him mad, he says he will go into ?Destroyer Mode?, with everything in sites being on a collision course! The following weekend at Bankstown on 22 August, Dacey will face Commonwealth Champion Powerhouse Theo, in his first Commonwealth Title shot, and main event ever. It is possible that after the next two events Jason Dacey could be both AWF Young Lion’s and Commonwealth Champion. That would be a wild turn of events and madness to top even his 21st birthday bash!

– AWF will have some new faces appearing at upcoming events. Lebanon’s Ahmed Iblis will make his AWF debut alongside AWF school graduate Grant Linstrom at Bankstown on 22 August, and a former AWF wrestler will return to action at Parramatta on 12 September.

– AWF School of Pro-Wrestling at Minto, NSW is starting it’s next Beginners Course on 5 September, so if you have been considering taking the correct steps to becoming a highly skilled pro-wrestler, applications for the Spring Semester (5 Sept ? 28 November) are available now and should be returned asap.
