Today In Memoriam: Bubba Douglas (42, 1986).

The following is a recap of Great Championship Wrestling‘s ?Miracle for Maegan? fundraising event at the Gr8 Sk8 Plex in Phenix City, AL, on February 12, where reportedly all of the talent, staff, and crew worked free, thus giving all proceeds to the family of Maegan Johnson:

The show began with Taylor McKnight introducing Raunchy of the South Side Trash leading everybody in prayer for Maegan. Diane Hewes and J.P Money then came out and thanked everyone for helping make this happen. Maegan Johnson was put over the loud speaker via telephone and said she was thankful for everyone, and ended with “I Love You”. Emotional moment, with everyone in the ring in legit tears and crowd chanting “MAEGAN, MAEGAN, MAEGAN!”

The GCW Tag Team Championship Gauntlet got underway…

Team Anarchy (Adrian Hawkins & Kyle Matthews) defeated Tex Monroe & Frankie Valentine after Valentine took a nasty spill over the top rope, leaving Monroe to be school-boyed by Hawkins for the first win of the match.

Team Anarchy beat Scotty Beach & Rob Adonis (with J.P. Money) via DQ. Beach and Adonis gelled better as a team then most expected, great moments including a double beach ball to Matthews courtesy of both Beach & Adonis. Adonis got nailed with a chair by Matthews, but had no effect. Matthews quickly tossed the chair to Adonis and collapsed, so that when the referee turned around, he thought Adonis had clobbered Matthews. DQ win for Team Anarchy.

Scott Steele & Razor beat Team Anarchy. Steele came in a house of fire, and destroyed Team Anarchy, finishing them with a powerslam in under a minute.

John Bogie & Kareem Abdul Jamar beat Scott Steele & Razor. Bogie and Kareem came out to best pop of the match so far, and showed sportsmanship by shaking hands with Steele & Razor. Bogie and Kareem over in about 8 minutes.

Buff Bagwell came to the ring for an interview but is interrupted by Cru Jones. Jones said he is now what Buff wanted to be 10 years ago. Said Buff is losing his hair, and that some a few splashes of “Cru Jones Hot Sauce” could probably help it grow back. Bagwell with a strong comeback, said he’s been on television, and that’s how everyone knows him, and that Cru never has, and never will be, a star in the industry. McKnight announces that Bagwell has been added to the main event , so it’s Buff vs. Cru vs. J-Rod for the GCW Heavyweight Title.

The gauntlet match resumed…

John Bogie & Kareem Abdul Jamar beat Winner’s Club (“Russian Mercenary” Joezevf Barkon & Bobby Moore & Ron Stalker with Princeton Gainey). Princeton declared it as a handicap match with all three members of Winner’s Club competing. Bogie pinned Barkon in about 9 minutes after a bodyslam and the 80’s Sault.

Team Inter-Promotional (Sal Rinauro (ROH) & Austin “Consequences” Creed (TNA)) beat Bogie & Jamar. False finish where Bogie looked to get the 3 on Creed, but Demarco over turned it and said it was a 2. Match restarted, Creed over Kareem after he sat down countered a sunset flip and held on to Rinauro for extra leverage.

The Southside Trash (Rowdy & Raunchy with J.P. Money) beat Team Inter-Promotional. Funny as hell spot where Creed and Rinauro tried to jump the gun with a double plancha on Trash as they were walking around the ring. However, the Trash just side stepped to allow them to crash to the floor.

Southside Trash beat Merchants of Death (Orion Bishop & Murder One with Wicked Nemesis) to win the GCW Tag Team Championship.

J-Rod beat Cru Jones and Buff Bagwell when Bagwell hit the Blockbuster on Jones, got knocked out of the ring by J-Rod, and J-Rod then followed up with a quick punt kick to Jones for the pin.
